The email I sent to SE about my earpiece:
Product: C905
Opinion: For some reason, today, whilst in call, my earphone stopped working on my C905. I went into the service menu and tested it and reflashed to no avail. Is this a common problem, especially as I have only had this phone for 3 weeks. I did not buy this phone from a phone shop, so I have no proof of purchase, is this a problem. My friend had to send his phone off for repair once and it came back with a really really wobbly slider, if mine comes back like this, will

The reply I got back answering everything I didn't want to know:

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson we are sorry to hear of the issues that you are having with your Sony Ericsson C905.

From the issues that you have described we would suggest that you update the Software on your Sony Ericsson handset. This can be done free of charge using our Sony Ericsson Update Service tool. To carry out the update you will need internet access and a USB cable.

It may be the case that user data is lost during this upgrade. We therefore recommend backing up any data to your SIM card, Memory Stick, or PC before upgrading.

Please follow the steps below to download and install the update service software:

1. Go to www.sonyericsson.com/support
2. Select UK
3. Select your model of handset
4. Click on Sony Ericsson Update Service
5. Click the link, and then click Run or Save.
6. Let the Sony Ericsson Update Service install.

Once you have installed the Sony Ericsson Update Service you will need to launch it. Once it opens simply follow the instructions that you will see on screen. The update should then begin.

In the event that this does not resolve your issue, we recommend that you send your handset to our service location to be examined by our authorised service engineers. The turnaround time for this process is currently 7-10 working days, from when the repair centre receives the handset. We offer apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please complete the attached repair form which includes the address to send your handset to. Place your handset in a Jiffy bag with a copy of your proof of purchase and send it via your Post Office obtaining a Proof of Postage receipt.

Please note that if the damage is not covered by the Sony Ericsson Limited Warranty, there is a fee of £10.00 + VAT to have your product returned should you not accept the estimated costs for repair.

For more information on your Sony Ericsson Limited Warranty please consult your User Guide or visit www.sonyericsson.com/support.

...And this is why I sold mine!

Speaking of which, the guy I sold it to on ebay says the phone arrived with a dead earpiece! Then suggested I should refund him £40 to repair it, or he might have to give me a negative feedback! Cheeky bastard! This phone has caused me problems than any other

@marty: It's obvious that the guy lied. He must have been to Esato and noticed the issue on many threads, thus prepared for his scam scheme

Is this phone as bad as the K850 in terms of problems? I have only heard of the keys in the middle getting scratched but wanted to know if there are any other issues too.

Thanks

That's what I thought, so I've called his bluff and said to return the phone to me if there is a problem. I hate dealing on ebay, it's such a pain!

The build quality feels solid and good, slide feel very stable on mine right now, coz it's new, same as the camera cover, no scratch key right now.. will tell more after 2 weeks use.. I use it mainly for camera reason ..
