Well, I'm sorry if I did not word it right but my W800's fine. Does not drop calls. I was just mentioning the problems posted earlier and would sure not want that to happen in the upcoming firmware for W800.
Just as manilabynight says its all a matter of tradeoff and choices taken by SE to fine tune the product to the general population. Nokia concentrates more in the phone function of the product and so excels in the field of signal strength and does poorly in features. SE chooses not to concentrate too much in the signal strength issues for the sake of battery life and distributes points gained there for other features like a cool interface.
Maybe there will soon be a time where we have several options choosing a firmware or operating system for our phones. or maybe I'm asking for too much

its nice to hear that the hiss sound is gone while playing music in the new firmware, i am still on R1NA005, waiting for the update for w800i, anyways all I want to know is has that static noise/glitch while changing tracks been eliminated completely, i dont know whether it has been mentioned but just for a clarification rather than ppl bombarding with "use the search button" . thanx

Last night, I encountered one static noise/glitch while the media player changed track.
It's the first encounter since I upgraded to R1BC002 2 days ago.
But it seems an intermittent issue.

about the clicking or glitching sounds in between tracks as others might have said that can be found on the previous firmwares... i say i might have experience such and AFAIK i also opened that issue long before. anyway, after every updates (currently i have R1BC002) i always do a refresh copies (recopy mp3 files again) of my files.. and by doing so i have (i think) eliminated that clicking soundz in between trax.
however, others have opened this topic about a lousy media player while playing some trax at a certain time, the media player would just simply go off, meaning STOP. then others added about their phone restarting... fairly enuff, ive experiend this phenomenon last night. while listening to music and strolling on the mall, the K750 is in my pants pocket, then suddenly i heard a slight *kzzzttt* (as the sound of the word might imply) after a track, then i failed to hear the next trak so i check my phone and found out the media player icon was missing from the tray. tho my phone didnt restart. its just that the player suddenly died on me. crazy...
i hope others will continue posting their other side of the story...
cheers peeps!

if the static noise has been minimized to a certain extent, its a good update then, but the media player goin off, i am not sure, maybe others can brief it out more, i havent experienced it on the w800.

The static noise is, IMHO, no different at all in the new FW. I have some albums on my 1GB card with no noise at all in between tracks (i.e. no crackling, glitches etc.). On these albums, it doesn't matter how many times I switch between tracks, there's no noise. On other albums, there is always noise (the same noise) when changing between certain tracks. (This is true for music transferred before and after FW update.) The noise also seems to come in before the end of the track in some cases, as it fades out - then stops briefly but is there again as the next track fades in.
This would seem to suggest it's a hardware issue rather than a software glitch - either a problem with the phone reading from certain memory locations, or fragmentation of the card memory, or somesuch.
I try to remind myself it's a phone....
