I know this gonne sound dumb but what are the differences between R5A020 and the latest firmware? I just got a T68m upgraded to T68i and after checking the firmware I noticed that it wasn't the latest. Just wondering if I should even bother with this.

Also, is the T68m upgraded to T68i supposed to have the same battery life as a true T68i? I only get about 280 hours of standby on the stock battery (BT, and IrDA off). I'm a little more used to my old T39 that lasted about 400 hours... I ordered a 1200mAh battery for the T68 hopefully this will do but I am still not completely sure about the differences between the upgraded T68m and T68i.

@Fxxynena
Just start reading this topic from the beginning and you will get the idea, I'm sure you will have plenty of time to read it before you get everything you need to flash your phone. But do not attempt it if you aren't sure of what you are doing.

Thanks for the reply av0135

I think I will go for the AVR/ARM flash again, ensuring that I have two credits just in case.

I will let you know if I suffer any BT or Standby problems as a result, although I am not expecting any.

Well, the server seems to be down as the client just sits at "Connecting to Server" when running the Just Testing feature. Although I can ping it.

I'll wait an hour and try again.

Onslo...just remember, and I think, notwithstanding the reading required (from the beginning of this thread), that I have boiled down the neatest set of steps for attempting to flash. Actually, these are more requirements than instructions:

1) Have 2 more credits than you think you will need. I have ran out of credits in the middle of the day, in West Coast, and it is middle of night in UK so I got stuck.

2) Be using 500mhz or slower pc.

3) Check serial port settings: 57,600 or 115,200 is fine.

4) Read this thread as much and as many times as possible.

5) Be using the latest fw revision posted by funks (hopefully I will be able to provide for different language sets soon) or sevenfire...although I would rather know the exact source of the fw if possible.

6) Perform MASTER RESET on phone before doing anything.

7) Turn off both IR and Bluetooth.

Fully charge phone and remove sim card.

I think that's it...other than have another gsm phone on hand just in case, and, last but definitely NOT leasts, have lots of guts!!! Anyways, have fun with the new flash, just make sure that you've got the above caveats taken care of!!!

Thanks,

I have already done one successful flash on my own personal phone. The flash I am trying to perform now is for a colleague (who understands the risks).

However, the server is still unavailable at the moment, so it'll have to wait.

Good pointers for those who are thinking of flashing though.....read everything and learn everything that av0135 mentions in his last post.

Regards

Onslo

onslo...prob with logosunlimited or uk server is pretty serious...it has been going on for more than 4 days now...that's why I had to go to gsmphonesource's server, through Adam. Listen, if you have to flash right away, I'd suggest that you contact gsmphonesource.com and get a credit there and go for it, it may be worth looking into..don't know when the Thai server is coming on line again.

Good luck, make sure of the master reset....

Is the R5A020 much different from R5D? Should I upgrade it myself or have it someone do it, or just wait for a newer firmware (i.e mine doesn't seem to bad)?

Also is the battery life supposed to be better once a T68m has been upgraded to T68i? I still get around 290 hours standby which isn't as good as what I was used to with my T39.
Finally, what is the difference between a T68m upgraded and a T68i (besides the look)?

Thanks,
Sam
