Hi there
I have just recently bought a K850i and am having a few issues with Internet browsing.

Firstly i got this phone from ebay.

The phone is already unlocked and i am on T-Mobile

But when i try to access the internet (through the O2 icon) i can't connect.

Now i have tried to download the setting from both T-Mobile and SE, which when i connect it says somethinf about.

"file type not supported by phone, download anyway"
I hit yes
its downloads some thing that ends in ".BIN"
Then says failed download, contact operator blah blah blah.

Any ideas, sorry but i am a noob to all this

By the sounds of it, your phone is trying to connect to something else.

What you need todo is go into the menu > Settings > Connectivity > Internet Settings and in there there will be a menu saying connect using. Ensure you have it sent to t-mobile.

The reason why when you press the o2 icon, this is set to go direct to o2. No network allows you to look at the wap section of other network phones.

So when it comes up with a error, just click on either cancel or otions, then click goto and then choose the wap link you require. It should would fine

I'm glad to hear that there is a major firmware update in the works. I've been an unlocked Sony Ericsson early adopter for a long time now (T68m, T68i, T610i, T630i, W800i, W810i, K850i). The K850i is hands down the worst of them all in terms of bug count, and user experience. So anyone considering picking one up should certainly wait for the next big firmware update. Not since my T68m and maybe T610i have I seen an SE phone perform so poorly ... the phone book and media player are incredibly slow when scrolling through them. The softkey buttons are only partially responsive, and the phone occasionally randomly crashes (though at least it auto-recovers fairly quickly). I do hope firmware can help and SE didn't just cheap out on the processor.

I'm going to stick with my K850i for a week or so, but might move back to my W810 until SE sorts out some of the bugs.

Can someone tell me whether SE are good at addressing bugs in their phones ? and how long does it normally take for them to get a phone working as they should?

I'm new to SE having had Nokia's previously but when I saw my sisters k800 I fell in love and wanted one but then found out about the K850i and boy did I feel smug when I ordered it !!

I received mine at the end of October having committed to 2 yr contract with O2 to get it but now Im not sure I did the right thing as I've had lots of annoying problems similar to others here, IT'S SLOW, the build quality seems poor and very creaky at the back near the battery, it freezes randomly and I've had to do the master reset too.

Addmittedly I bought it for the camera as much as anything but I dont get the kind of photo's that some on here are achieving, many seem over exposed especially on auto unless i fiddle heavily with the settings which makes quick spur of the moment snaps nigh impossible.

Yesterday I tried to update with SEUS (already did the 037 as soon as was available) having read there was a different firmware for voda but it said I had the latest so I cancelled but when I switched the phone back on it wouldnt recognise the sim and would only allow me to play the demo, grrr

I've got it working again finally after switching on/off and taking out the battery several times but I'm hoping that people here who know the SE brand can put my mind at rest as to if any future firmware (SOON) will make this a good phone or IF I've made a big mistake in buying the K850i ????????????

Our company uses around 1500 mid range nokia's and its my job to distribute them so I'm used to peoples niggles when they get a new phone with teething problems but I had hoped that buying a top of the range phone would give me something special but now Im not sure as K850i seems sooooooo buggy and it feels like a lifetime waiting for the better firmware.

There are many people on the internet including my self regarding the latest SE phone. To be honest its poor from a SE and im sorry to say not currenlty a flagship design.
Dont get me wrong i luv the phone, but im currenlty on my 5th in a few months. Although the last one is much better, but im not sure how long it will last.

Regarding the firmware.
R1DA038 will prob not be released for any other network, the firmware was a quick fix for R1CA037 on voda.

People on Voda were upgrading from R1CA029 to R1CA037, however the relised on doiung so that there icons returned back to normal and the phone looked like a generic version. So to fix this the firmware was removed and a later one added which is R1DA038.

However i have heard that there are issues with R1DA038 regarding memory errors. So i wouldnt think that it will be released for the other networks.

A New major firmware update for the K850i is due in late Jan - Early Feb, but this wont resolve the creaky back you have sorry.

Hope this answers your question

@mezza928
Switch to video record using the slider switch next to the shutter release. It's the middle position you need.

I just bought my K850i yesterday and I'm in love with the all the phone features except the creaky battery cover.

It makes the phone feel cheap and flimsy. I am going to get my exchange on Xmas day as the customer service center of my operator will be opened.

I personally feel that those handsets with creaky battery cover should be replaced as constant contact with this flimsy cover while using the phone might worsen the problem.

Merry Xmas everybody!

darrengf thanks for taking the trouble to reply, looks like I'm just going to have to be patient and wait for the firmware.

I find the design of the phone real easy to use, and its a great looking phone when its awake, , not so great when its asleep and just a black screen that needs pressing just to look for messages.
its just the bugs that drive me crazy and I'd hate to think Im going to be stuck with a pup for 2 years .

I'm slowly getting to grips with the white balance to compensate for the over exposure, still tempted to rush out and buy a camera ,lol.

Anyone know if there's a way to stop sms from being shown ?? , its not very private having part of the message in full view, is it possible to somehow just have the little envelope icon ??? as I had with Nokia and moto phones or is this normal with SE ones?

Merry Xmas Everybody And Sucessful and Happy New Year!

One question,

When you shake the phone do you hear the sound like something is loose inside?
