Well I just pre-ordered my G900 in Brown from expansys Yipppeeeee. I should get it early next week. Can't wait. And I just cancelled my contract and gone to PAYG, I use my phone so little t call people it wasn't worth it LOL. But I'm a gadget freak. What can you do?

It's already been delayed on expansys once, wouldn't be suprised if it does again.

I'm still waiting for it to come out on upgrade but neither Vodafone or 02 have heard of it when I ring up!

haha join the club mate!

o2 rang me yesterday asking me about the service i recieved when i last called them. and i was like, 'hmmm, well, the person i spoke to didn't even know of the phone im waiting for..the G900...and he said...'The what?'

He then tryed to convince me that it was the Samsung G600 that i wanted....hmmm...yeah...

I went on to explain that there really is a Sony Ericsson G900 comming. he then left me in a confused and disgruntled manner.

I know exactly what you mean arj2442. Last week on monday I asked every operator in my town about the G900 and there wasn't anyone who even knew it. Later I ordered it on the Internet and got it on friday.

After four days of co-ownership of the G900 and the N78, I gave up the N78 because I was supposed to keep only one. At a rather expensive chain-store in Greece, the G900 sells for 389 euros and the N78 for 429 (N82-435). It was a tough decision. Overall the N78 is a more complete phone. It has the best phone-GPS, it has more frequency bands plus HSDPA and its camera, albeit a 3.2mp unit, takes sharper and more color-accurate images. Its processor, at 369Mhz makes it REEEEALLY faster than the G900. Its NEW Symbian system is much more intuitive and comprehensive than the UIQ 3, and there are MANY more applications available!

...BUT! The N78 is horrible and most of the time the left "green" key was inoperable as it would function as a left softkey! EXTREMELY frustrating! There was a gap all around the keypad and at night you could enjoy a wonderful view of the well-lit interior of the phone! No matter where you pressed the unit, it would creak and squeak! The rear cover was loose and extremely cheap. The cover even hosts TWO antennas, covered with plastic adhesive film, the GPS and the Wi-Fi antenna.

The G900 is MUCH better built...NOT up to some excellent standards such as the Samsung U-900 Soul or the MOTO V8/V9, but still it is very good. Its reception is very good, and the Wi-Fi works well (if only it had the N78 interface). Its video is at 30 fps, it is VERY slim for a smartphone, and the battery consumption is very satisfactory for a smartphone. The screen is really bright and its "touch" capabilities are very "cool" and "eye-catching" rather than useful, but still, you can access the menu faster if you use your finger ON the screen. I am happy with UIQ 3 as it is something very different than Symbian in so many of my former phones. One other thing that I will enjoy is that it (unfortunately) is bound to be so much more scarce and unique than the myriads of N-Series look-alikes all around you!

Overall, I haven't regretted my choice (yet). I hope that the G900 won't betray my trust!

Thanks for the good summary haki!

Like alot of you guys in the uk, im waiting for the service providers (O2, voda, orange etc) to sell the G900.

Anyone got an expected date?

One promising sign is that C902 was up for release on play.com on the 7th of June, and that was the very day it appeared on the o2 website...
The G900 happens to be on the play.com site too, with a release date of the 26th of June, so fingers crossed we should be able to get hands on it from O2 or whoever within the next 10 days.

Unless anyone has any more information? Thats all we can hope for at the moment.

@Haki - great comparison - thanks

I spoke to O2 retentions last friday. They had a date for the N78 (23rd June I think she said!) but had not even heard of a G900.

@toPh

Expansys had the G900 set for release last week I thin, Play have always had it at the end of the month and Expansys just moved to match this so I would sill expect it to launch then as it is already out in other country's to buy. In my experience phones always come out sim free before the do on contract with the carriers. And the last UIQ phone Orange offered was the P990i. I think they gave up with them after that fiasco.
