^ That is true. But sadly these days it's hard to be innovative like it was 20-30 years ago, and i doubt Sony can make a phone that will stand out of competition, they f**k up with something every time.

I think now it's a case of the engineers trying to squeeze as much Sony tech and brands into a smartphone as it's possible. Pretty soon the box for the Z4 will look like a set of F1 racing gear.

WalkMan
Bravia
CyberShot
SteadyShot
To name a few plus others I can't remember and with the possible inclusion of the S-Master digital amp the list just keeps getting bigger.

Honestly i expect Z4 to be nothing more then slightly upgraded Z3, new processor and a few more marketing names like S-Master "for mobile" for example.

Smartphones are becoming a commodity now. They simply cannot compete on the price front, so they should just get rid of their budget smartphones completely.

Best thing they can hope for is the continuing of the relative success of their high-end smartphones.

A few weeks left till mwc and leaks are getting more and more, except Sony leaks. HTC M9 has been fully leaked and today bgr has received *exclusive* information from a trusted source about the next Galaxy S.

If we take a look at Sony's competition and compare it specs with Z4 rumored ones then I would say Sony has done quite a good work.

S6 Specs:

5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a 577ppi density, stunning outdoor visibility, super dim mode for late night.
A huge 20 megapixel OIS camera sensor and a 5 megapixel f/1.8 front-facing camera with real-time HDR
32 / 64 / 128GB of storage + for sammsung
2550mAh battery -
Built-in wireless charging
Four hours of usage on a 10 minute charge
Quick connect charging
Samsung Pay: works with 90% of existing magnetic stripe payment terminals, and NFC payment terminals
Metal and glass body
Gorilla Glass 4
Cat 6 LTE

Z4

5.2 inch
Snapdragon 810
3GB Ram
3300 Mah Battery with wireless charging
21MP Camera
New UI
Best AUDIO
IP68
140gram
LTE CAt 6

Is wireless charging confirmed for the Z4? I'd love to see it.
Besides that, I think that a dual-flash would be welcome if xenon flash isn't a option, and something in the likes of touchID would be nice too. full aluminium body is nice, but I played with Z3 the other day and I really liked the feeling of it, so I guess it isn't that much necessary

Other than that, I wouldn't change much from my dream phone.

I'm pretty happy with my 5s at the moment, so I'll just wait for that dream device

Sony unveils the Xperia Z3 Purple Diamond Edition

So the rumors were correct, a purple edition of the Z3 has just been announced by Sony this morning. It is only available in Hong Kong as of now with no word of it reaching other markets just yet.

Sony slipped from being the 6th biggest smartphone maker in 2013 to 10th overall this year

more like others moved up than Sony's slip. xiaomi is a beast backed by Qualcomm and Google

LG has been backed by Google Nexus yet it slipped as well.

HTC is not even on the list but they are still able to make profit even with little marketshare. Why can't Sony do the same?
