I believe you also have the same firmware as mine based on your profile.
Asian firmware of the R2AE033 doesn't support multi-character search.
What you can do is to flash your firmware to a european version of R2AE033.

My K700i and K508i both have firmware R2AE033 Asian version but DO HAVE multiple characters search in my phonebook.
Why some people here have problems with multiple character search in their phonebook although they have latest firmware?

How would i do that?

R2AL029 eh! Interesting!
It would be great if someone with Setool credits could give it a go and see a) if actually exists (You have to be careful on April Fools day!) and b) What, if any, noticable differences there are between this and R2EA.
I'll add an entry for R2AL029 to the first post once more details emerge.
