@marty, I agree, it doesn't help. I do tend to agree SE quality control has slipped compared to the old days. However it just means more lemons get through the quality control - but the phones that don't have problems are still reliable and well built.
The basic design of SE phones are still well thought out and solid. It's just they need to tighten up their manufacturing processes to reduce the incidence of lemons.
They probabnly also need to pay attention to their support, which is often a let down. (though personally I've never needed it - all my SE phones have always been solid as a rock.)

I got a C905 Inca yesterday, it works nicely imo.
The build could've been better, but from K850, it's a huge step in the right directon imo!

On the flip side, something to consider is the experience I have had. I bought the K850, and it was an absolute disgrace. Software crashes, resets, naff build quality. Then I bought the C905, with self scratching keys, chipping paint, loose slider, losse camera cover etc.
Now, if most

phones really are built that well, surely the chance of me getting two duff ones is almost nill? And in all honesty, I know three or four people who owned the K850 and they all had lots of problems with it. And as for the C905, my friend here at work is now on his 3rd handset. I think we need to accept that

phones have some of the poorest build quality at the moment, something that needs to be addressed.
As big a fan as I am of

, I see far more complaints in recent times about their handsets (and have had much worse experiences myself), then of any others when it comes to general reliability.

SE build quality right now is better than it has been for years IMO, the K850i and w580 were diabolical, but the current W,C and X series is marginally above average, You ought to try an N series slider Marty, pay 400 quid for something with a slide action that's like stirring a stick in a bucket full of bolts

A guy here at work has an N95 and yes the slide is terrible. I don't understand why they just don't use a spring loaded mechanism like everyone else!

It's because they put a heavy emphasis on quantity. Their logic (which sadly was also treaded upon by SE) is to flood the market with products, psychologically imprinting onto people that cellphone equals Nokia. I went to a Nokia store today and guess what, even the retail units (not dummies) already have crap sliders. They haven't even been sold yet!
On a side note, my friend uses a K850i and honestly, it may be the only one on earth, but it never showed any of the symptoms mentioned in various threads here.

While we're Nokia bashing, my N82 is a great example of Nokias crappy mass production. The keypad plastic is so cheap, it creaks and squeaks constantly! It's very annoying! But for now, it's doing it's job.

Actually the only 'good' Nokia that comes to my mind is N78. But I don't want to stray too far from topic

Thats not typical of all n82s tho is it. . Mine is solid. Not a sound..id imagine most c905s are workin perfectly fine. While were se bashing, no nokia ive ever owned had a failed earpiece. . Disgraceful. .
