Yup! There is a reason why there is no Xenon in the current crop of flagship phones, but with the phone above, one could easily have been packed in.

I have a terrible feeling the Z3X is a ghost.

Like the Cybershot Xperia, Xperia DS and for many years the Playstation phone (the latter was real but took about 4 years longer than expected).

I wouldn't be surprised if they run two major announcements a year, one for the odd numbered Z series (phone, Tablet Compact and Compact) and one for the even (phone, Tablet and Ultra). Other announcements will be small low-mid range and regional releases.

If I was Sony I'd want to keep it as simple as possible and no simpler way than to introduce an entire series at the same time.

Especially if they'e all going to have the same internals and rough feature sets anyway, staggering devices from the same series just makes end users feel there was no improvement in hardware.

Of course, multiple devices simultaneously announcing and releasing requires much greater resources concenrated into a short period of time for initial marketing push, supply line, production etc.

I think someone mentioned the current boss of Sony mobile got demoted big time just before IFA and Kaz has some of his guys took over the division because of the laskluster performance for 2 years. Its true, Z2 mega detail probably the final nail for him.

I heard some news about sony's curved sensor.
First curved sensor to come out is cmos sensor for smartphones and Sony already made contract with major smartphone and camera makers.
Samsung already has 300 of engineering sample.

I said it before, and will say it again - suzuki is f*cking idiot. I hope he gets fired immediately. His religious resistance to WP in the time of such crisis is buffing to say the least. He's the one to blame for the mess that sony mobile is today.

Man, you're talking like if WP will save the world

Personally I still believe WP is far from being a threat or a solution...

Sony sells its Vaio PC business, splits TV arm into a separate company and now we have rumors about Sony saying goodbye to DC-business. They decided to focus on post-PC products like smartphones and tablets, which means that those recent "crazy" rumors could indeed be real. I've always had the feeling that there was internal war between different departments of Sony, like in the old Nokia days (Symbian vs. Meamo). In terms of Sony it was Xperia vs. Cybershot. Even though being a big player in camera business (selling sensors to competitors, great DC and DSLR..) they made the Xperia cameras intentionally "worse" so it won't hurt sales of compact cameras. Now the know-how of the camera department will hopefully improve the camera quality of Xperias without compromising anything. And imo we could now also see diversive "test products"/niche products like a RX-Xperia, maybe not in H1-2015, but H2. The QX100/30 and the recently announced Sony ILCE-QX1 could just represent "the tip of the iceberg".

But as the saying goes, never put all your eggs in one basket. I feel ditching the compact business is not a good idea, some models are needed on the less expensive side to lure in new customers who in the future should/would upgrade to a more expensive model from Sony, keeping them within the brand.

Selling Vaio was a poor move, hopefully Sony will not regret this decision in the future and have to buy back the brand from the investment group.
