O2 have offerred me (I think) the X1 for £35.00 a month + £0.00 for the phone as an upgrade on an 18 month contract.
This seems like an alright deal but not great. I'm going to try and ask for free insurance. Thoughts?

Which carrier does this apply to? Now I'm abit more interested!
At
www.mobiles.co.uk X1 on £35 per month for 18 months and upfont cost £30. This is on O2, whcih means after 9 months you can reduce to £30 per month and a month later to £25 per month

Can anybody confirm if English OS is not available with scandinavian keyboard? Any swedish users with English OS and scandinavian keyboard?
Finnish deliveries were supposed to start this week, but now I got an email stating delay for 1-2 weeks...

Hmmm, I'm already on vodafone and depending on who you speak to you can always get a few things bundled in for free

. Each Sales support person has a "allowance" on top of what is offered to everyone. So for example, I'm getting the following upgrade offer (as a 600mins p.m. vodafone user, with unlimited text, stop the clock and "free" internet access for: £35 pm

):
X1 handset = free upgrade (18 month contract)
4Gb Micro SDHC card = free
Only have to sit and wait for the call now, date as with the others is a moving target...

@pinguino2 I'm dissapointed you disagree with me.
I thought I was right about EVERYTHING, ALL the time
Oh no. I said I disagree. I never say you were wrong... but now that you admit it... well, I have to agree with you.

HTC Touch Diamond > Xperia X1 (matter a fact HTC designed the X1)
I brought an HTC because of the simple fact that se's ball game is below par when it comes to software and reliability. But I see why alot of se fans are excited about the X1 i mean, 1. its SE branded, 2, the interface is very appeling ; but to tell you the truth i can see this phone getting boring in a matter of mins. At first sight most people are attracted to the operating system and the navigation, but be realistic how long do you think clicking on a bunch of lil windows that expand will keep you interested. It's not even like theres more to the customization on top of wm6, besides a Fishyazz clock. lol (Maby thats why it was delayed so long) Just giving an opinion though.
But anyone who is tired of se i recommend choosing an HTC phone. If you thought the A1 & a200 12 DESKTOP was beautiful wait till you see Touch Flow 3D on HTC's later models.

I agree the definition of smartphone is far from definitive
Of course it is a smartphone, but by the definition that makes iphone a smartphone you could also argue A200 or even A100 phones qualify as smartphones, especially those with good multimedia specs.
One thing I agree on, iphone upped the anti on UI design. I'm keen to get a good look at X1 panels to see if I can make any real use of them. I'm especially keen to try the SDK and see what I can do in terms of designing my own panels that will allow me to add utility that suits me and not what some SE marketing guru thinks I want.

i think its fair to say that the touch diamond isn't really a match for the x1! maybe the pro? as a matter of fact i'm wondering wether or not to stick with my p1 and getting a free ps3!
