Same here ... took me 8 years to convince her to go online util I bought her a nice laptop installed few apps (toolbar with buttons) with all her favorite things made her even a FB account all she needed to do was push on it and there it was. .... connected her and showed her few things she can do with it and how ... same day she was chatting with my brother on facebook and now she loves it!
from morning to late night online ... she just turned 70.
If I had to buy her a new pc again this days i would buy her a tablet ... it is even easier.

My dad turned 70 last November 24th. He is fitter than I am

But he has no need for technology except his mp3 player to listen to his classical music & I do his music on it for him on my pc as he has no clue & does not wish to.

They just do not know what it is ... they are scared and do not know what it can do and how ... so as I wrote you must bring them a pc that is ready to use ... find them the things they like and install it for them.
Tell them that computers are made not for only smart people and it is not difficult just many small things to remember but they will learn it with time ... and the most important is to tell them that the buttons there are to push and nothing will break .
I also installed a program (team viewer) if she has problems with it I can fix it from home.

they use it for one call a month, if you miss it you can't call them back. "they" can track you down when it's on.

I also hate situation when i call my wife or mother and nobody answers. When i reached home and ask where is your mobile?? The answer, ohh its lying in the kitchen or its in my handbag. Grrrrrr.. Whats the point of having it then?
Today morning was very pleasant and cool as we have first seasonal fog.

Presently i am at my office. Just returned from my working site. Today i was one man short so i had to do some odd jobs. I am very much tired. I have even skipped lunch.
Bono, can we have a pic of your new lumia.
