That panel has been on the SE website for like a month already.

Hi all,
As Nitro Fan has so well pointed out just what is going on was the X1 not meant to have launched in a few countries on 30th September? So how come only a few people in Sweden have them? this is not a little delay with no information on why this is weeks and counting. Now although it's gone quite again now how come still no Official confirmation from SE of the Ram in the X1 and not some really hard to believe hidden Ram=Vram and 3D acceleration rubbish to explain it?
Where are the launched retail units and how much Ram does it have and why yet again silence from SE it's beginning to look like the P990 all over again.
Marc

Well, they've already officially stated the RAM is 256MB. There's only anecdotal evidence stating otherwise...nothing official.
Why it wasn't shipped worldwide on 9/30...

At least the folks in Sweden got theirs. I imagine there are some production issues causing it to not be produced as fast as expected...but I'm guessing though.

right, there is no confusion about ram. It's 256MB, simple as that. The only reason there is still confusion is because people keep bringing up issue

@Dogmann:

said the X1 would ship from the factory September 30th and first batch would be available in
some markets shortly after, meaning beginning/mid October.
From what I can see nothing has changed so far on this subject, there are no delays.
About the RAM issue, I'm totally with you on that one.
Also it seems :se still do not believe in their products and therefore yet again do not have enough units available ready to ship
OR
screwed up with the RAM and is trying to fix this ASAP.
I guess we will find out pretty soon :]

my understanding is that distribution was temporarily halted due to a few carriers who found an issue in the firmware and this was being addressed, presumably by a firmware update, before the phone hit the mass market. Unfortunately this was too late for the initial batch made available in Sweden.
I never really understood why there is a RAM issue at all, if its 256mb... fine, that will do the job, if its more, great! By all accounts its 256mb but I sometimes get the feeling that some people are now just looking for reasons to complain about SE
anyway, 1 more week to go according to all retailers that I monitor then we'll get even more people confirming what the Swedish owners have already said

i think although x1 only has 256MB RAM but x1 is fast...
many people said the x1 is slow but for me, not at all...
Yes, panels transition from potret view to landscape is slow but i understand it...it is because there are 9 panels are active...it eats big RAM for it and dont forget the panels are a desktop not applications or shortcut and on a desktop there are many applications it means if there are 9 panels it is the same as it run application more than 9 applications at 1 time...No phone like this!
if you run 1 application on a desktop or panel..WOW it is very fast...it can be compared with Iphone speed even in application transition from potret to landscape also fast...
imagine if x1 only has 330MHZ and 128MB RAM...
how slow it is!!!

Hi all,
Sorry for upsetting anyone but i have been in Hospital for a little over a week having a Back Operation. On returning i hadn't read any clarification on the memory issue which is why i asked.
I think I've been round phones long enough to understand launch dates and what ever anyone wants to claim shipping from the factory to being available doesn't take over 3 weeks and close to a month please be realistic.
I now understand that the Networks spotting a problem is the cause of delay and that makes perfect sense and it's no big deal. What is though is yet once again when just a few simple press announcements from SE would of clarified both matters SE yet again remains stubbornly silent. You would of thought by now they may of improved their lack of communication with their users or then again maybe not.
Oh and for those of you on VodaFone i have just spoken to retentions and they are expecting the X1 to be available from tomorrow. Unfortunately they don't and won't have any details of prices an plans until then either but as a premium device most price plans will be 18 months was the only info she had. As i have a free upgrade available i may well get an X1 for a 14 day review and then sell it to one of you lot.

Your missing the entire point, the statement I made was towards se (Sony Ericsson)'s contribution to the x1. It's called an se phone but all se have done was make the plastic case and a program that shows wm6 progs as shortcuts... Thats all.. HTC on the other hand have created the acutal phone.... you know the hardware... including the screen, keyboard, and buttons you will be pressing... Stating that i feel the phone should be called an HTC since the heart of the phone was created but HTC. Im sorry that your taking my opinon so seriously. I promise next time when se creates a good phone ill make you feel better by boasting it strengths.
Also just because i like to debate on matters
Plastic Vs Metal. I will be very happy dropping my plastic phones only recieveing a scratch while you can recieve dents that can potentially cripple the hardware inside it.(Happens to people in cars)
First of all, cars have mostly polymer/fiberglass bodies.
If you like debating, then make sure you have a factual basis for your argument(s)
The heart of the phone is the MSM7200a Qualcomm chipset...not made by HTC. Neither is the camera. HTC doesn't make LCD screens either. I could go on.
HTC is an ODM. ODM'ing is a common practice in any industry. Don't be foolish to think that because a device has a certain brand name that every component of that device is created by that particular manufacturer.
This all doesn't matter anyways, because HTC
has yet to "teach SE a lesson" on premium phone design
Certainly, by now, HTC would have shown SE "how it's done."
Errr before you start telling people off I really think you need to get YOUR facts right I am affraid to tell you that certainly in Europe most car bodies are "MAINLY" metal with some Polymer or Plastic panels and parts and as I work in motorsport and come into contact with very many American vehicles very few I have encountered have mainly plastic bodies apart from Vettes that is.

Well I for one heard and saw the X1 product manager say

had upped the X1 RAM to 384Meg RAM, I feel that is hardly anecdotal. I have not seen any Official statement clearing up the issue where can this be found please?
