@Nitro Fan
I agree everyone was more than happy to extol the virtues of it having 384mb Ram and yet now those same people are happy to say there was no proof and it was always 284mb. It isn't really that important other than the confusion it seems to have caused and the lack of any clear and definitive information on which is correct from SE. I mean really just how difficult is it to tell us the correct info along with an official explanation for the delay. Bad communication is just that bad business practice.

Masters of suspense... or incompetent... You decide!
All those years ago when I was in the industry, release dates were never met... They were a figment of the imagination... Dont know whether thats changed, but looks like

like to keep it real!

Will the extra ram really be that beneficial / less ram be that dentrimental?
Isn't how the device performs more important than who said what?

Hi goldenface IMHO you are 100% correct BUT the X1's I have seen demonstrated look like they need every spare bit of RAM they can get their hands on they are very laggy,
X1 fanboys please don't flame me over this, I believe the evidence of my own eyes.

RAM is not a magic elixir that solves all speed issues. There is a point of diminshing returns by increasing RAM. Someone tell me, if the RAM were increased to 384MB or 512MB, how would that make the X1 faster (technical explanation please)?

Errr before you start telling people off I really think you need to get YOUR facts right I am affraid to tell you that certainly in Europe most car bodies are "MAINLY" metal with some Polymer or Plastic panels and parts and as I work in motorsport and come into contact with very many American vehicles very few I have encountered have mainly plastic bodies apart from Vettes that is.
Well, I'm no car expert. I don't see any cars that have MAINLY metal bodies (outer panels)...at least not the ones I've been in an accident with

I stand corrected if they are indeed mostly metal (but doubt it).
Well I for one heard and saw the X1 product manager say had upped the X1 RAM to 384Meg RAM, I feel that is hardly anecdotal. I have not seen any Official statement clearing up the issue where can this be found please?
Good ol' white paper.

my understanding is that distribution was temporarily halted due to a few carriers who found an issue in the firmware and this was being addressed, presumably by a firmware update, before the phone hit the mass market. Unfortunately this was too late for the initial batch made available in Sweden.

Every company may have productions problems. But most companies have the decency to explain. Their customers may feel disappointed but nOT IGNORED. So the lack of communication from SE is not acceptable. They are hurting their image worldwide very badly.

That will be the white paper they released BEFORE, the product manager told the world it had 384Mb RAM then?
Seriously until someone gets their hand on what

are prepared to own up to being a final release model no one will know how well it runs on 256Meg or 384meg what ever it be! But what I have seen so far with 256Meg aint all that impressive

Well if a "and the good news is" announcement at the global launch of a new product is not official I really do not know what is!
As for what I am expecting to see:
Well animated menus that don't stop when you ask the device to do something would be a start, my office colleague who is no "phone head" watched a demo with me and laughed! when he saw the amount of lag, his comment "what is the point of that animated menus the phone cant cope with!"? and I have to agree with him,
that is IMO going back to the days of windows95! If the device cant run the applications it is being asked to don't proceed, stop take stock and deliver a product that can cope
