I actually donīt know if the latest firmware are better or not. My little "feel" is that pictures tend to get a little bit darker now but it seems to work quite well.
Itīs important to follow basic photo tech and not shoot against the sun and stuf like that.
No edit done whatsoever and straight from the phone. The best thing with the c902 is that it remembers the settings you do with the cam. If it is a cloudy day and you set the white balance to cloudy it stays there until you change it back. I love this because it so easy to shoot with

Plank is that the newest FW? They are bright and clear compared the other posted.
In the pics i see with the latest FW, are not oversharpen BUT they look much like K850 pics, not very colorful, like a half dead pic and in the bright reflection spots turns purple (Look at the close up photo of the rin)
With last FW seems like the problem is with the brightness and color handling rather than oversharpness. Now pics looks like taken with k850... (One of the reasons i sold it)

I don't know whether it's appropriate to not post photos here. I'd like to convey my thanks to every photo contributor to this thread! Your pictures really opened my eyes. I own a C902 & I never thought it could take such superb photos.
All these years whenever I buy a new cell phone, I simply check every feature to make sure it's not a defective phone. And I've never taken more than a handful photos with any phone I own then. Then I came across the photos on this forum & viewed them, especially the ones by plank. They are done very professionally. Most are sharp, natural & have vivid colors. Now I am starting to take photos using my C902!!
I dare not post any pictures here yet for fear of viewers dropping dead on the floor with laughter! But I do wish that one day I'll summon enough courage to post some here.

Some more with latest fw
Auto
Auto with Sunny wb
Auto with Cloudy wb
Itīs almost fun how we sit and search for slightest fault on our little tiny phone-cams and expect to get dslr quality
Like i said before, outside and in good light i think the c902 are quite capable of capture beautiful images. For me the actual focus process feels more important and knowing that my picture will get sharp in auto. This the c902 does really really well, i get less "blurry/out of focus" pics than with any other phone-cam i have tried so far.. This is what impress me most.
With both my N82 and my 6220c for example i got many more useless pics and didnīt trust them that much. Then again some of the pics came out totally awesome.. Ofcourse they spank the life out of c902 indoors with the powerful xenon but in my eyes they still are no good compared to a real digicam with people who look like ghosts or zombies.
So my conclusion is that for MY needs and for ease of use i prefer the c902. I wanted a "beach" cam who easily slides in my pocket so i never miss any fun photo moment.
Personally i always shoot in auto and finetune my pictures later on during resize process.. I always do this regardless of phone or cam so i dont see that as a problem.
Ofcourse i havent done anything to the pics here other than making them smaller for faster upload.
Oops, here is one i have played with and tuned for my new maybe not optimal adjusted monitor and personal liking. 3 seconds in AcdSee and playing a little with levels
Sorry to post a modified pic but i just wanted to show how i use my pics. But maybe im weird
