question for the tmobile users on unlimited data plans..
i know that after a certain number of gigs (i think it's 2 or 3?) your speed slows down. Is it a drastic slow down? are we talking like EDGE speeds? 3G speeds?
input is appreciated
I'm really considering a switch if it makes having a Z1 that much easier. Don't even care if Tmobile will pick it up since its not like they'll be subsidizing it anyway on no contract plans..

I'm actually considering buying a Z1, It's just that things like this when you hear things like that so much it does make you think twice.
I haven't seen a phone where not a single customer have got defective unit or unsatisfied issues. can you give one as example?
it's normal to see lots of complains on a phone. after all, people having issue will complain, but people who don't have issue won't spread as much info on the internet.
fortunately, lots of people on esato had already pre-ordered Z1, so we already have guinea pigs right here at esato. just wait for their review and feedback.

From Sony's POV I think that they see Z1 as a phone after all.
It's better to have little more privacy so Sony use VA panel and I appreciated that decision.
While Z Ultra is a mini tablet with phone capability, same treatment as Tablet Z which has IPS panel.
As far as C6906 concern, I think it will come following after global LTE release, alike different timeframe.
(Zomg once quote that T-Mobile probably get Z1 sometime around Black Friday)

black friday!? that's FOREVER in the future! i hope that's not true, but if i switch to Tmob i can just get C6903.. though i guess it wouldn't be truly global ..
i think even with the VA panel, viewing angles are improved from the Z. But they aren't 180 degrees, which I think is what people want (for some reason).

Ok the difference between the C6903 and the C6943, is that the C6903 support High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) H.265* and the other one doesn't, don't know which market will get either or though
It's on page 18 of the white papers
here
Indeed, perhaps a regional licence issue, even in the C6903 although mentioned it is still region specific - my guess this is something left out of the C6943 WP as the * amounts to saying pretty much the same thing

i can't really agree with you on that. poor viewing angles for privacy is not a good argument if you are a company seeking more sales. we've seen how the older panels failed to attract new customers. why should sony go back to poor viewing angles when even cheap china phones now have better IPS displays. i just don't get it. if they're trying to do that for the lower costs, it should translate to lower prices. i just don't get the point of having poor viewing angles when we all know how it makes prospective customers go to other brands because their displays look way better.
does having poor viewing angles mean better sunlight legibility? does it mean lower power consumption? if it does not translate to any advantage, why should sony continue using it? that's just stupid. or is sony simply using them because they've had abundant supply of those panels they could no longer use because they still couldn't sell as many as they would hope to sell?
sony should just use the displays huawei or xiaomi are using. they're besmirching the triluminos branding of their TVs by using triluminos displays on their phones that don't have great viewing angles. ordinary customers don't care about wider color gamut when what they see with the promo photos of the device leaves much to be desired.

Being a T-Mobile user and just having 2.5GB of data to download, I can tell you it is a big difference from measly 4 Mbit-ish download speed, to a prehestoric speed of just 0.3Mbit/s.
That's me going down from 3G+ to something bellow EDGE.
For 60 USD I'm paying now, I rather move along to Metro PCS that uses the same antenna as T-Mobile.
It's always 10 USD cheaper than T-Mobile, so the unlimited data plan costs 60 USD with Metro PCS.
Be cautious because it may only be for 3G and not for 4G.

Places like Clove and Negri will not have C6906 because the "06" denominate the North American market. That's another way to tell if it's a grey market product or not. C6903/C6943/L39H/SO-01F(Docomo)/SOL23(AU) will not be a North American product. Though you may have to be careful with C6902 since that can be both a NA or non NA product. Though if you purchase form places like Newegg and Amazon, you should be fine.
@moogoo Concerning the T-Mobile issue, why not just try them for a month or two? They have no contract anyway and when you open an account, you're not force to get a phone. If they suck, then just don't bother with them. If they're good, stick with them. I'm in NYC and I have an average of 15+Mbps down and 10Mbps up, on non busy hours I get upward of 20/15 Mbps. With non LTE, I get about 2-3 Mbps below those speed.
The C6943 does not have the 700 frequency band - the C6906 does
