See, K750 with Euro firmware has multi-character search for contacts. Asian phones do not even if they have English language. I would love to have multi-character search with the language of my own but I can only do this if I flash with a Euro firmware.

30-07-2005 - Client 13.7
- corrected problem with CDA erasing (bug in 13.6 logger)

Hi GsMen,

I just flashed my phone to R1L002 with the 13.7 logger and I chose finalization and the CDA "CDA102337/10 - Europe2" plus some extra customization to get some extra languages I needed. All worked fine and the phone works OK but if I check the s/w info on the phone I have a "blank" CDA???

I get:

Customization
cxc125953 R1L002
1E0W
EUROPE_2

What happened to the CDA and how can I get a proper one in there?

Michael.

I, like a few other people who use these forums, still have problems getting my head around the ins and outs of flashing phones.
I have read and re-read through this thread, and others, countless times but - despite the patient help I have received - still don't really get it. I don't have a clue what the difference is between the Main, FS and CDA files, what files should go with which, what the implications of matching certain files are. I am sorry if what I ask is repetitive - I am not doing it just to annoy people, I am just ignorant!
All I really wanted to do was get rid of the crap Vodafone branding all over my phone and Davinci has done this for me, my phone works and I am happy. Whether the files I chose are 'right' is irrelevant as far as I am concerned at present as all is working fine.
I would like to be able to update through SEUS in future, but I am not getting stressed about it. If someone could tell me what files to reflash with at some point to allow me to do it that's great - but it's not urgent and I am not holding my breath.
If my asking questions that have already been answered - albeit in a form I couldn't understand - irritates people I'm sorry.

Maybe davinci team will be nice and add GDFS writing option for CDA strings........then all "blank CDA" issues will be gone....

What is GDFS?

Well, I just tried to run the 13.7 DVT client again, this time just doing the CDA (no other flashing) in the hope that this might work. It didn't....there's goes €10 up in smoke

The software info display still shows the same as I posted above.

I wont go into the gdfs, but the CDA is produced as a text string in it when the phone is customized. Currently the way davinci changes the CDA is by editing the customization file that is unploaded after a flash of the FS. This is a low risk way, but it could be achieved alot easier by just writing the CDA straight to gdfs, avoiding reflashing........but with this....other problems can come.

Its up to Davinci whether they want to implement a "gdfs write" option. Although it may not be needed in the end....

not pissed at all just pointed out that some questions have been answered more than once.

look at it this way:

main as an operating system with the set of drivers that run and optimize your hardware.

fs file as an gui with the preinstalled features and software including languages.

cda not a file but a number that is used by seus to see which fs file is installed (which region), some think combined with the imei check.

cst (customization) file is a ripped languages set from fs file allowing adding and/or replacing languages in the phone (combined set on davinci ftp adds the languages, individual cst deletes installed languages and installs only what you selected at least this is the case with emea2 cst) , hence option you tick is called customization. which means you dont have to use it if you allready have languages you want in the phone allready.

now caution you shouldnt mix the versions (flash r1j main and r1l fs file) stick to the version numbers.
acctually do not know what would happen if i did that but not that dumb to try hehe. do not exactly have money to burn.

think that eventually all generic cda will work as the phone ages and newer firmware becomes available unless seus decides to ban imei,s from formerly branded phones

hope this helps a little???

Hi! I just want to point out that it seems that the IMEI does NOT need to match the FW or CDA region for SEUS to work.

My phone was originally shipped with R1J002 APAC_1 FW. I had it unlocked and flashed with R1J002 EU_1 with EMEA_6 CDA SEUS recognized the phone and updated it to R1L EU_1 and EMEA_6 CDA.

(note however that I did not use davinci for the unlock and flash).

The same is not true for Davinci, unfortunately.

There are a couple of users (myself included) who have gone from APAC_1 to LAM2 using Davinci. SEUS still attempts to flash the phone back to APAC_1 (after successfully flashing the phone with Davinci). I have tried two CDA strings and they both failed. It seems as if I'll have to use Davinci for all future firmware updates if I want to avoid going back to APAC.
