Exactly. I want to try the pro side. It's been a long time since I started taking photos with my phone. Now I think it's time to get a chance with a real camera.

Yeah, when you want to "upgrade" from your phones, skip the compact and get an SLR. Even though most compacts still take better pics, than phones, their main advantage is, that they're small and light, so it's easier to take them with us, compared to an SLR with lens(es). But now we have our phones for point-and-shoot pics, so no need, to spend money on a compact, imo.

As you like to take macro-photos (I remember the great pics of spiders and bugs you took with your K750i), you'd better not start with a large zoom, their quality is not good enough for macros, unless you'd buy a very expensive one.
A smaller zoom, or even a standard lens, usually is best to start with, they're cheaper and have better quality, especially in low-light situations. You can always buy that larger zoom later, and a flash.
For macros and long exposure times you'll also need a tripod.

Thanks for the compliment. But honestly I want to try a different subject in photography as well. Not saying that I'll give up on macro though. But with a pro camera I can experiment new fields and discover my potential.

Well, with an SLR and one or two good lenses ( plus maybe a flash ), you'll be able to take photos of nearly every subject, I just wanted to point out, that you shouldn't start with a long zoom as your first or only lens, when you'd want to take macros (among others), as the quality of long zoom lenses isn't good enough for macros and low-light photos. Zoom lenses with a shorter range and standard lenses usually are less complicated to build, hence lower priced, but with better quality.

Oh that's true. You have a point there. Saving for a camera is a big sacrifice at the moment.

Don't worry. As long as we know you're alive, it's ok. And glad to hear your dad's improved!

Cheers How is you?? Lately I have come to realise nothing really matters or is important as family when someone close to you is sick. It's kinda strange but looking after my dad doing things for him that he finds he cannot do has made me realise I am a natural carer. I have just got on with it & find it all easy but also tiring too

It's a vocation. You know you have to be 100% with it and, of course, you get battered. But joyful at the same time.
