i feel like the easiest way to do it is with the end of your palm. Just push down and slide it open with a little force.

Hi Zackc,
You need to see if anyone here can actually update their firmware on a Voda branded handset and if they can you will need a SE service centre as i doubt a Voda shop will be able to do it but i may be wrong.

Can't update the vodafone ones at the moment. Latest firmware isn't released. I'm actually afraid that the later firmwares they release for the voda's will actually be branded versions..

I'm going to have to change the cda number on mine/debrand.

Bum
Well am ok with it as it is.
Would like to be able to listen to mp3's and use web browser, without it crashing on me though.
Yeah major bummer x64 windows, but aside from the lack of support software wise. I find it much faster than x86. No other windows will take advantage of the ram i have installed.
Have my eye on the new ultra portable vaio to buy next month. So won't have to wait for updates 2 long.
I wonder if my web and walk t-mobile sim will work in my voda p990?
Maybe after a little nap.

I stuck my w&w chip in and got the settings sent from the SE website and the net works fine.

I was told that the sets with Chinese language support could not update firmware to R7 still on R4 and seus will reply via update service, no update needed!!! Any truth in this?
Found out also the "call divert" function are sometimes available depending on sim card. Under call settings, you cannot see "call divert" but I tried changing sim card, it appears. Its definately not becos of service availability as both my sim has subscribed to call divert with telephone service provider!!! Another bug?
On the brighter side, i did notice the menu speed is better after i turn off the handwriting abilities.
Think I will give up on this P series and return it and get me a stable and reliable W810i

Wow! I thought sweden was expencive! We pay about £1 per mb and thats to much!!
Vodafone (that now is Telenor) has some deal where you can pay about 15 euro (guess thats about £10) for 50mb. Then we get a bit better price per mb... still thinks that 15 euro/month should be enough to get free mb.

You are right Gracey, they dont. Its basically £2.35 per MB downloaded on Voda, on O2 its £3!

Its a piss take and they need to sort it out, whoever heard of 1MB of data costing £2.35 to do anthing with! Get real Voda, get more data users/subscribers and bring down the cost!!

You think thats bad, here in the Isle of Man , Manx Telecom ( which is a subsiduary of O2/ BT) charges £5 per meg. some bright spark worked out that if you used your mobile phone as a broadband connection over 3G and just downloaded stuff at the connection speed your phone bill would exceed 2 million pounds.

I got a question regarding WLAN. at our Univeristy we have several hotspots where you can logon with laptops etc. after you've downloaded a program called SecureW2. I can't find such a thing for the p990 and the manual of the WLAN tells me to use 802.1x.

These settings are required:

SSID uva
Network authentication / encryption Open / WEP
Beveiligingsprotocol 802.1x TTLS/PAP
Username @uva.nl
Password
Domain uva.nl
Outer identity
Roaming identity
anonymous@uva.nl

But I can't find anything in the phone regarding TTLS/PAP. Someone on another forum told me to search under WLAN, new account , authencation and choose TTLS then, but it isn't there. I have the standard FW (no updates installed yet)

any one ?

Try here. Normally I'd avoid Savastore, but at that price and with free delivery it is the cheapest I have seen around by a few quid.

By contrast MyMemory who are normally very competitive are over a fiver more expensive before postage. Although they are doing the 4GB at a very good price of £74.99.

Your other alternative of course is to have a look on the 'bay.
