Nice camera work, Wanqa.
This morning i had a colleague asking me about video calling, since she's getting a handset which allows it. Was most surprised when i told her that i knew nobody who actually made use of that facility...

@dr_thug: HSDPA is here already and people are happily using it.
@da wanqsta: I actually checked out those forums when I was in Jozi this weekend.
@all: Like I mentioned, I was at the head office for my annual assessment...Basically what happens is that the bosses are allowed to shit on your performance for the year and then you have to get up and defend yourself against their attacks.
They shitted on me but thankfully it wasn't too hectic and I left there with my ego intact.
Later that evening went to a work function to celebrate the success our newspaper has had over the last couple of months.
I flew back on Sunday with a massive hangover after going at it till one that morning...never got a chance to visit Vodaworld, I guess I'll do it some other time.

its already launched???thats great.but has 3G penetrated enough among consumers??are people using video calling??is hsdpa priced a premium?
here, there is a ongoing fight between cdma and gsm players for 3g spectrum.fight ministry of telecom and ministry of defence for spectrum alloction.fight etween Telecom regulatory authority of india and telcom players...
the telcom companies want to delay as much as possible so that the equipments get cheaper by outdated technology and also the handset prices come down.still they will charge obscene amount for 3G.
@amawanqa,could u show me the directions for the "ladoo shop"?i love parodies.

@dr_thug: I would hazard a guess that less than 10% of SA mobile phone users are on 3G. There hasn't been much of a fight between players over the launch of 3G/HSDPA services...there was an initial trial period which was followed by a full commercial launch which started this month.

A friend was telling me about the video, so i'm glad you posted the links, Wanqa. Those lyrics are hilarious!!!
On a more serious note, at another site a member posted some lyrics from an English football song, as part of his post. The lyrics derided Chelsea, and included a number of references to gay sexual orientation. A number of members, including myself, found the lyrics to be offensive, and asked for the removal of the post. The administrators chose to leave things in situ since it was their opinion that there are many songs containing lyrics which are offensive to one grouping or other. I found the decision unpalatable, to say the least. Your views on such a situation?

Ah, The Kryptik One is on the SA Thread Night Shift again, I see.
Personally, I find any blatant deriding or any form of prejudiced attacks on public forums or elsewhere, under the guise of 'opinion', as unacceptable. Period.
Don't get me wrong, I'm totally for people discussing and debating different points of view and we can all learn from one another.Freedom of speech has a chance to prevail, but I believe in this within constructive parameters.
How this is brought across, delivered or done can be so significant too; and before people say that this in itself is hard to determine from one person's viewpoint to the next, how many brain cells does one need to work out what is constructive retort, clarifying things positively, healthy debate... or not?!
And we can all have a bit of a laugh or light-hearted dig at things without resorting to narrow-minded, childishly indoctrinated, misanthropic measures.
I have learned so much through constructive debates and arguments, and various opinions, viewpoints etc. changed or evolved as both knowledge and personal life experiences help to refine these viewpoints.
At the end of the day, they are my personal perceptions; and the simple key to convincing others about the validity of one's statements and judgements to (ideally) be based on pure evidence and knowledge, not on hearsay or concocted ideas and passed-on prejudices so often stemming from other people's negative reactions towards others. Why?...perhaps because of their own deeply-rooted insecurities?
I'm saddened to hear that that site's mod did not deem it necessary enough to take action if the posting was found to be so purposefully offensive to some, and having no constructive value whatsoever, irrespective of viewpoint.
