Ok, did a fresh install and everything feels so much snappier and faster right now. battery drains like crazy but let's give that a few days.
Happy for now

i've gotten them too.. but no real new features. i don't use anything other than album and walkman though. movies and vid. unlimited didn't really interest me.
i use mxplayer as my video player and there isn't anything that can beat that.
ON ANOTHER NOTE..
Does anybody else get the feeling that bluetooth capability is crappy with KitKat? I admit, I didn't use bluetooth devices a whole lot while on 4.3, but using them now with kitkat.. i get disconnects often and my headset audio quality is sub-par at best. This is with a headset where I have been told in the past sound great when I'm talking to someone..
I really hope there is an update coming that will address these small, but important issues.

@moogoo your absolutely right about the Bluetooth, it's crippled in KitKat, I've got a 2014 model ford fiesta and when it's connected to my car and I allow it to read my messages it forces my phone to stay awake even after its disconnected which drains the battery horrendously. Then there's the disconnecting and distorted audio when using it with my car.
I emailed Sony support about this and after about 4 weeks they told me that my car is not compatible with my phone
the trouble is that the stereo is a Sony stereo

ha. so they gave you a BS response to just get you off their backs instead of trying to find a solution for you. That's sad.
I get the same. Whenever I use my bluetooth headsets now, I get distorted audio, volume is lower than it has been in the past, and the person I'm talking to says they can barely hear me. I've tried it with an older headset which has always worked really well and with a brand new one I just got.. same thing. I may have to go back to 4.3 but i do use google wallet's tap to pay feature from time to time.. and that's not supported under 4.3.. sigh.
would feel better if I knew there was an update forthcoming.. but it doesn't look like it.
quick question..
does anybody with 4.3 have the lifelog and smartband running? i'm wondering if downgrading will affect its performance and usage. though at this point, the ability to use my phone as a phone is more important to me than being able to log how many steps i take in a day.

I havent noticed any problems using Bluetooth on my Z1 with kitkat. I have a Parrot bluetooth car kit and a Sony Bluetooth Stereo headphones and both work without any problems.

i've switched back to 4.3 and while i miss some features and the use of my smartband, the difference in speed and responsiveness is night and day. my Z1 is so much faster and snappy and downgrading to 4.3 did fix my bluetooth issues as I use the same headsets and get ZERO complaints. My friends are actually surprised when I tell them I'm using the same bluetooth headset.
I'll wait until sony releases an update to kitkat and wait some more until I know the issues have been resolved. but it's very disappointing, especially when Z2 uses much of the same hardware and it doesn't seem to have the same issues. sigh.
