Yeah, but as a weapon you'd have to pick up before you could get it - it wouldn't stop ganging-up completely, as you'd only be able to use it once in a while.
I'd also like to see some sort of remote controlled missile (one that, after you fire it, you can control it's left-right direction to guide it to a target - especially a hard-to-reach one). Again, as a weapon you only get from a crate. Controls could be arrows on screen or jog dial.

Since we seem to be getting some volume in this thread, lets start a tactical discussion. I think quite a few of us have played SA for quite some time. Just list down ur favourite and most effective move. Let me start
My favourite is killing an ant all together by making sure he falls out of the map/cliff...etc. This can be done by just whacking the ant with an RPG if the ant is close enough to the end of the map or if there is some distance, a strategically thrown grenade will do it. Throw the grenade so that the explosion will push the ant towards the opposite direction.
When faced with 2 teams ganging up against me (often in deadly mode), I position my ant very near or exactly in the same position as one of the opponent's ant so when I'm hit, the other ant is hit too.
Share ur strategies!

My favourite move is using the flame thrower on an ant which is against a wall.

I think the most satisfying is when you hit a few enemy ants with a cluster bomb!
Air strike is also good, but easier to aim, so it's not as satisfying when you get it right with a cluster.
Floss: any comment on the invisibility cloak ideas?

I think the invisibility cloak is a good idea. I'd only apply it to one ant at a time. You'd be able to tell where the ant was if it fired a weapon (cos youd see the weapon) but youd have to remember its position. If the ant got hit, it would of course become visible again.
I like the idea of guided missiles as well.
I'm also going to have another look at getting internet games going. It is very frustrating that I have all the network code there already (from the bluetooth version) and its only a small piece of code to make the game connect over tcp that I need. If I had some decent sample code for this I'd have it working in an afternoon.
And all the other recent suggestions.
Cheers,
Tom

I too find successful cluster bomb the most satisfying!
I also use the edge of screen tactic and the standing close to opponent ants.
For the first couple of moves I usually move a couple of ants to sheltered positions, especially if there are a two or more of your ants stood together at the start of the round.
Tom, playing opponents over the net would be awesome!

My favorite move has to be prodding an enemy ant off of a high ledge so that they fall to their doom through a hole in the map. So satisfying knowing you caused supreme death without a weapon.
And I like scooting my ants right up near the enemy ants because they seem to like cluster bombs. So if they use them while I am near their ants, they are hurting themselves as well.

A few more tricks that I realized when I played yesterday. I find using a grenade is more effective when the enemy ant is trapped in a hole/pit esp if they are standing in the middle then the grenade will inevitably get them. Use a Mango bomb ( u know the one that break into small pieces) in a hole/pit and its almost surely fatal. I also try to push ants of different colours (I always play against 2 enemy) to face each other and thereby increasing the chances of them attacking each other, though admittedly that doesn’t work all the time (u'd be amazed how they rather throw a grenade with a weird trajectory just to get you when a simple RPG would have done it against another computer ant right in front of them!). One last thing though this should be fairly obvious, when there is a barrier between two ants, I always make sure the enemy ant is the one who shoots the last piece of the barrier away so then I get to blast him first once there is no more barrier left. This is where I usually use the “skip move” function.
Tom aka Floss, sorry to bug u again, have u checked the incoming call problem I highlighted earlier? Thanks
Keep sharing the ideas guys

Not yet. I have the afternoon off work today though, so I'll be spending a lot of it working on Soldier Ants.
Cheers,
Tom
