Thank you Ivan!
Since I've already scanned for devices before, my phone was available in the menu, but choosing my phone directly from the menu didn't work. When I choose "Other devices" and searched for new devices it worked. Strange.

@jazzmeister
thanks! i see that the latest version is now 1.4.2.10 --- does sending files from phone to pc work with this version? also, my pc does not have any bt software now, can i just install this software or do i need to install first the software that came with my ms6967? i read in the msi site that if i intend to upgrade software from version 1.3, then i need to get this key from the widcomm site?
@*
i've also read that you can use widcomm drivers instead of that from msi? what driver works best with ms6967? i remember, the first time i tried the msi driver, it took me the whole night to make it work. i haven't used my msi for quite a while, and now i intend to use it again. i've got no bt drivers installed, but i have already downloaded installers of fma and mpm. what else do i need?
what i really want is that i can send messages from the pc to another phone, send themes, pictures and tones from pc to phone and vice versa, and have a phonebook back up. are fma and mpm enough?
please help! i've been out of the loop for so long...

MSIīs latest drivers use the widcomm package. You will have to send your dongles MAC-adress to them in order to get a key for installing the software.
Btw I havenīt noticed any major differences from the version that came on CD with the dongle. Perhaps slightly faster file transfers.

@nice eyes,
no worries
phone to pc transfer works fine for me.. even using the phone to browse files in the bluetooth exchange folder in the pc is fine, only a bit slow... i usually juz use the PC all the way, to copy files from phone and to send stuff to phone. faster and u don't need to pick up the phone, yadda yadda yadda...
with the latest msi software, if you haven't installed the 1.3.1 that comes with the dongle, juz install the 1.4.2 one... oh, but if you don't have the key, then you'll have to install the earlier version to see what the dongle device address is. then juz follow the instructions to send the address to widcomm and they email you the device key for the updated software.
cheers!
