New firmware certified for the Z1 today with build number 14.4.A.0.108 http://www.ptcrb.com/vendor/c[....]equest_guest.cfm?modelid=24328
Looks like a decent upgrade with my current build number 14.3.A.0.757

Let's hope for some big improvements and maybe some of the exclusive apps the Z2 has ie 4K video recording and Timeshift video.

Must build numbers for bug fixes only change the last 3 numbers and all but the the first number (14) is all different and surely Sony could port 4K and Timeshift video to the Z1. The Z has the majority of apps the Z1 got a few months after the Z1 was released so who knows.

Android version 4.4.4 is now rolling out for the Z1, Z1 Compact and the Z Ultra http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]ria-z1-and-z-ultra/#more-26376

Well done Sony that was a fast roll out, I believe only Nexus devices have this firmware as of now

According to that link it's only rolling out to the Z1 Compact, but a similar FW has been certified for Z1 and Z Ultra.

Fast work there, I hope Sony can do the same with the big OS updates, AFAIK 4.4.4 on Nexus phones is a mere 2-3mb update.

It is just bug fixing, aka the open-SSL bug which was patched. From z1c users there are some z2 apps like the simple launcher and some other apps

Launcher version is 6.2.1.A.0.11

New apps are Pixlr Express, Neoreader, Evernote and TV Sideview

http://forum.xda-developers.c[....]st.php?p=53714493&postcount=13

nothing else added it seems, don't expect 4k or even timeshift, I'd only want timeshift but honestly don't care anymore.

I have no idea if 769 or 761 ever hit unbranded Z1 phoness but I am still on 757 and although it is stable, there are bugs which I am not happy about, so I am not expecting this new firmware to hit my phone anytime soon.

btw if the update is only minimal, like the nexus had, why is the firmware version such a big jump? 14.3 to 14.4?

In the change log it states camera performance is improved. I wonder if they mean image quality and or better stability from the camera.

the update is awesome! the phone fly again, like with android 4.3!
Great bug fixed...
1 click root still working, so you all can flash 4k and 120fps videos with no problems (still to resolve is the steady shot in 4k which is not working ATM).
