Phablets are getting more popular each year. This time even Apple joint the phablet party and it seems that Googles next Nexus phone will also be a monster sized one (5,9") meaning that a high-end ZU successor could arrive sometime in H1 next year.
recap:
Rumored specs
6.14-inch Trimaster El OLED display, 2560 x 1152p resolution
4GB RAM
64-bit 2.86GHz Snapdragon 810 SOC
16GB storage
22MP Exmors RS sensor -> curved sensor with f/1.2 lens (SR4)
Sonyalpharumors also said the device is coming 2015

The Z3X was also spotted on Antutu
The rumored dimensions 69.5 × 150.1 × 7.9mm sounds weird at first but makes kinda sense. Sony could finally introduce a phablet oriented UX making use of that gigantic (21:9?!) display, especially in landscape mode like Apple did with the Iphone 6 Plus and before that LG with the BL40.

if it's a phablet, it seems unlikely for sony to endow it with a powerful camera.

Again, z3x sound like complete bullshit to me (along with that stupid name). 21:9 display, come on guys, are you serious?

Agreed, 21:9 will not happen lol, the antutu score shows 16:10 and no 21:9, so clearly not the sony device or the rumoured specs are wrong.
Whatever is being tested in the antutu, could be any prototype, even by qualcomm, it is dated from aug 15th from a google image search.

I don't really believe the spec will exist aside of the display size, curved sensor and H1 2015. well, i would be really surprised. 6" sounds reasonable as it became the standard for phablet display size and they surely listen to the critisicm of z ultra being just too big for pockets, even in phablet standards. rest of the spec should be taken with a big grain of salt... 16:9 would be just fine. for start, give the next ultra 2 windows mode. think of making use of the big display in different ways. give it the new curve sensor along with the latest features and new features, don't do mistakes like shatter film, try to make the top and bottom bezel smaller, try to keep it relatively thin, give it qhd display while having at least the battery life of z3 - sony got really good with battery life, i'm sure they can do it, market it real good with ps4 remote play, etc.

http://www.techtimes.com/arti[....]-proves-size-doesnt-matter.htm
"We are a latecomer to the smartphone market and have a lot of new technology bubbling up inside of the company," said Suzuki. "We want to show it off and use it to be more competitive. Every six months we find many, many areas where we can improve in both hardware and software, but it's only sustainable as long as we are growing in the premium product market."
So, with Sony Mobile playing catch up, may be it's not such a bad thing them having a six month flagship upgrade. As long as they have something new to bring to the table each time.

Kaz, read this. By the way I will be ok with a humpback camera if the phone itself will be 6.5 mm thick.

Eventhough some of you guys will be mad at me. I find the top and bottom bezels quite useful in landscape mode.

@xperiazultra
Not mad at you at all.

i agree with you. next ultra with evolved z3 like design and for a change with metal instead of glass would be perfect, but with a 6" display device you got plenty of surface to work with so maybe they could make the top and bottom even smaller, not ultra small, just a little bit smaller, while keeping it relatively thin despite stereo speakers and camera sensor.either of these options would be an answer for people who look for more substantial change in the design.
