Sheesh, what is it with MTN and Vodacom's 3G service down here? To call it sporadic would be a compliment!

@da krypsta: Sorry to hear about your piss poor 3G service.

The imminent May 2006 launch of the interactive Bluetooth network at Gateway Theatre of Shopping - developed, supplied and installed by WCIT (SA) and Blip Systems (DK) - will ensure that the right message reaches the right customers at the right time. Read more

Here's a better picture of Snoop taken by a friend of mine who just happens to be a professional photographer.

AFAIK

is not regulated because the radio waves are short range. Back on the Gateway thing, I'l find it quite annoying if I'm bombarded with commercial messages as I go through a shopping mall.

Nice Doggy pose that your mate captured there, brixsta.
The Z530i has hit the shelves here this week. Nothing much to write home about it. Also saw the LG KG800 'Chocolate' slider phone at the local carphone Warehouse today.
Quite snazzy; the seemingly 'keypad-less' look in standby mode, but as you move the slide up, the front keypad shortcuts obviously 'appear' as well, in all their sharp scarlet splendour.
Nice try and a better effort than some of LG's other efforts of late, but still not enough to even remotely sway me.

Made a wacky sort of discovery this evening, while playing around with my tv I noticed a teletext service on SABC2. The Teledata(so 80s) service is good although the graphics doesn't seem to have caught up with the information age. Their Formula1 log was also outdated but then again the news headlines were spot-on. If you've got a tv that supports teletext just check out Page 100 on SABC2.

Now here's a strange beast, the BenQ-Siemens E61.
http://www.gsmarena.com/benq_siemens_e61-pictures-1502.php
It has appeared in the new Carphone Warehouse monthly catalogue and will be initially sold for £99.99 on the Virgin Mobile network when it becomes available in a week or so's time.
What makes this phone er...'unique' is that all the mp3 player's keys are on the top of the fascia! Gee, if ever there was a phone that resembled an electric shaver...
Wonder what it's like to use with that ergonomically-unusual mp3 player location.

@dr_thug: Hope

improve their market position by 2010. I'm more excited in the technologies we'll see incorporated into future handsets.

A quick 1.-something megapixel comparison between da Wanqsta's Nokia 3230 and SPV C550, of the Wanqmobile (Toyota Previa 2.4) outside temporary Wanqland, as we move into our first UK property in the coming month or so:
Nokia 3230
SPV C550
Not the most idyllic angle to take the pic, as the afternoon sun is filtering through the buildings and trees from the other side of the vehicle, but it'll do...
