I've just updated. All is good. Definitely a bit snappier and back to how it was with 4.3.
Dunno if it's just because it's late, but the screen seems brighter. Not had chance to test the camera out yet.
Ironically, I'd get fed up of wait for O2 branded update to appear and downloaded a ftf for France this morning, but thankfully hadn't had time to install it.

It seems strange to me that the o2 and carrier updates seem to arrive before the unbranded updates.
Also. This update has sorted the camera out. So far, so good!

Damn... screen cracked again! Second time now and the phone is useless now
This is it for me with the xperia Z1, not going to repair it i think. The cost of a new screen etc (for the second time) is just to high. Maybe the OnePlus one is a nice alternative, or wait and see what the new Iphone will bring.

wow. crazy that you've cracked your screen twice. i've dropped my phone from heights of 3 feet or higher several times and all i've done is scuff/scratch the metal frame. i have notice there is about a half a milimeter of bowing on the frame on one side. i'm curious if this effects the waterproofing at all?
Anyway.. i also think it's weird that carrier branded models are getting updates while unbranded models are left to be last. I can understand if its an update that's specific for carrier models .. but if it's a global release, unbranded should go first! I guess it's a matter of sony serving their contract partners before they serve the little guys..
still waiting for my update.. sigh.
UPDATE: so i updated finally. seems to work great this time. even bluetooth connection seems a bit better. we'll see how battery life is after some good hard use. so far, i'm very pleased over the last update.

Lets hope so, and also time to bring some Z2 features over to z1, like the libaries for 4k and 120 fps video recording and double tap to wake.

it's such a small increment. i highly doubt it's anything more than some bug/security fixes.
i'm pretty happy with my update so far.
I've had a few restarts, but it only happens with viber so who knows. otherwise, i'm pretty happy.

I wouldn't bet on 4k and 120fps on the z1 even though the 800 can handle it, sony's claim will be no it can't handle it and you need an 801, bla bla bla.

I can't see 4K ever coming to the Z1. Its a selling point of the Z2 so another reason for people to upgrade to the Z2 rather than just updating the software on their Z1.
