My main considerations are that the phone must be able to multitask without lag. If it can support a few open apps like Netfront, notepad, file manager and possibly an IM app succesfully without memory constraints shutting one of the apps down it's good enough for me. Games, tones and vidz have never been a consideration for me, so i'd think the onboard memory would cope quite adequately.

Horses for courses then, it seems.
Sigh, remember the days when phones were just phones...
I so nearly bought a brand new, unlocked P910i from
www.mobilefun.co.uk , who were clearing out some T-Mobile pre-pay stock.
How much?
£149.95 (approx R1600...!)
Of course, they're completely sold out already.
Personally, I'm holding out for the 990, even if it takes a good few months to become available on decent contract deals here.
I'll fiddle with my other handsets until then.

Hi there everyone, greetings from Lagos. I can see that the UMTS bug is catching on quickly.
@Amawanqa: those pictures dont look too bad for a VGA camera.
I too have been in search for an unbranded P910i, but they seem to have completely disappeared from the shelves. Are there any to be found in SA?

Hi Amby,
Yes the 2 pics of the TV screen did come out better than I expected.
Would love to get a phone with a really good macro-shot facility later in the year; I enjoy detailed, high-res close-ups.
I reside in the UK now, although roots in SA are still very strong. P910i availability is very limited here in the UK too and most shops no longer have stock of them. The odd independent dealer/retailer have a few, but they are becoming scarcer by the day it seems.
Hopefully one of the other SA thread regulars could shed more light on P910i availability in SA than what I can.
Totally off-topic, our mortgage advisor in London, Layo Ogunleye, is a Nigerian ex-pat. She's the most thorough, approachable and knowledgeable mortgage advisor that I have ever dealt with.
Greetings to all in the PNF.

@Dr_Thug: last time I checked, Nokia's flagship business phone the 9500 still sported a VGA camera. 2MP on the P990 aint bad. Its a business phone remember?
@Amawanqa: there are quite a number of intelligent Nigerians like Ms Ogunleye around the world, but exploits of the few dishonest and greedy Nigerians have overshadowed the good. A classic case of one bad apple ruining the bunch.
