Can someone confirm this for me.
I've been told today that the regular X10 is now discontinued. Can anyone find out something to confirm if this is true or not as its not been out for long.
This came from someone I know who works for one of the networks. His comment was:-
"we're getting the Xperia X10 Mini pro as the X10 has been discontinued by Sony"
My reply was that I can't see the X10 being discontinued yet as its not been out for long and it seems a popular device. They then said
"trust me andy, it can be - no-one is buying them - granted its okay, but it doesnt sell as many as the htc, not least because its using an out of date version of android..."
I was looking to get either an X10 or X10 mini pro come August when my upgrade is due.

The X10 Mini is also using an older version of Android but I have heard the X10 is not selling well next to the HTC Desire. But I was in Carphone today & they had them on display with working models.

X10 will be more popular once it gets rooted. The sales will go higher.

What does rooting these phones mean ?
Is it something to do with modifying Android phones ?

Yes. Once it is rooted you can customize the phone with different roms, add or remove features, etc.

That's probably why the X10 price has gone down. In an online store here that I have bought most of my phones from, there is $50 CAD decreased in the price of X10 and a difference of $70 CAD from HTC Desire's price.
I think it is a good thing SE is stopping the production of X10, if it is true, then release a better version with multi-touch. X10 could have sold more if it ran on at least Android 2.1 since the beginning and supported multi-touch. But then again, like SE always does nowadays, of all the features they could have not included in a flagship phone, the most important are that ones always being left out. When I think of SE these days, the it-could-have-been phrase is what comes first in my mind. I like to see the Timescape and Mediascape run on Android 2.1, though.
Enough of that, if SE is stopping the production of X10, then are they planning on releasing another phone with better set of features (one that fully support multi-touch)? Or the guy who said about X10 being discontinued was just misinformed?
