That's probably why the X10 price has gone down. In an online store here that I have bought most of my phones from, there is $50 CAD decreased in the price of X10 and a difference of $70 CAD from HTC Desire's price.

Ive been in this wholesale mobile phone buying scene for a while now, and I can tell you significant price drops DO happen from time to time. Usually its just small drops every week, or every couple days, but again, from time to time, prices may drop a lot.

Boils down to a number of things really, could just be the store not changing their prices for a little while, then all of a sudden dropping it quite a bit. OR, as the production of the x10 gets further along, costs MAY become cheaper. Similar to how the PS3 production costs dropped after a while.

The x10 price has dropped just like it has every week since release, only these past 1 or 2 weeks, the drops have been slightly larger.

The x10 will not be discontinued, and anyone who believes that is, im sorry to say, 'silly'. Its their flagship phone, they have poured so many resources into it, all the marketing, firmwares, updating to Android 2.x etc... Why would bother to work on that if they were stopping production. As some one said above, just because a sales person said they sales were poor, does not mean anything really. Id say its currently one of the best selling phones on the market. Just because some mobile enthusiasts dont agree with it running 1.6 or that its only being updated to 2.1, they are only a small minority compared to the size of the whole market!

Guess we will find out when release their quarterly results in the coming weeks!

I understand how that works, no need to explain that.

Anyway, the price drop was not $50 CAD, it was $100 CAD. The Desire's price only dropped around $40 CAD. The prices of Vivaz and Vivaz Pro have not changed much.

It does not mean that if X10 production is being stopped, the same will go with the software support. Apple has long stopped the production of IPhone 2G but still the very first IPhone has gotten software updates until its hardware has given up. Beside, SE promised that it will give support to X10.

It may sound silly to believe that X10 is being discontinued but a verification or confirmation about this rumour from a more "trusted source" would be much appreciated. Is that not why this rumour was posted here?

First thing that i noticed after the Update was the Lot of Telnor branding over the Firmware. I hate it!

I think the only update that the x10a will get in the next months is the Android 2.1 version upgrade. It is the only update that Rogers officially announced last month, the largest x10a carrier in North America at the moment.

Sadly, you're probably right. It's a shame that SE doesn't put more effort into the NAM market with incremental updates. I don't see how it would take that much more effort on their part? :/

in UK, X10 is still at no.2 while Desire at no.3

Actually it's already No.2, since it was No.1 for a month, before that shi*tty iPhone 4 to be released.
