@easydee, sorry i'm presently in Minna but wld reach her during the weekend. It also depends on whether she just recently returned from her trip, cos she sells fabrics, that's why i earlier said she doesn't bring the fones in in a commercial scale. But i know a sendo X cost N18,000 for a brand new one in Abuja.

Was at a Nigerian friend's house last night and caught part of the eviction show for Big Brother Nigeria which was quite interesting. I'm no big fan of the programme, in South Africa we haven't had a local version for three years but I found it suprising how, seemingly, popular it is in Nigeria which we down here(South Africa) perceive to be quite a conservative/puritanical society.

@brix, considering the population of Nigeria (over 150 million) it's quite easy to get a substantial number of interested viewers. An average Nija person is always bothered about morals they preach & don't practise. The producers considered this before starting the show, that's why they don't even show the shower period for controversy sake..

@mamba: I asked my friend's wife, who also happens to be Nigerian, and she said there was a "shower hour". Back in the day people used to crowd around the office television around 9am each morning to catch naked bodies...not that they were anything to look at but still.

I suppose you're right when saying that amongst 150 million people there are say, 10 million, who would want to watch something like this.

Can people in the north of the country watch this programme or does shariah also apply to television?

if there was anything like ''shower hour'', my sisters would know cos they're always watching, I just asked & they said there was nothing like that. As per the nothern part of Nija, i'm very sure they wont even know what bigbrother is all about cos they are more conservative than u can imagine. Religion is more important over there, while guys in the east, west & south love fun, games & adventure..

well if u read through the last 8 or 9 threads u'll see dat i raised a topic on bigbrother nigeria n also the star quest show. But since i did not get a reply, i felt dis forum was filled wiv borin pple( no offence y'all ) so i had to blend. My point is, not all people who reside in d north r socially backward. I reside in d north( though am not from there) am sure any1 wiv a dstv wether frm north or south would know bout bigbrother. n i've already voted ify out- evn though she's pretty, i dnt rlly like her
