Ha, in the vid PK just posted the guy sais the device has an "orientation key" to change between lanscape and normal mode. You can see him pointing at the side of the device. (an odd placment IMO)

I guess that means no automatic flips?

The problem is I just upgraded my PC to an Intel E8400, and now I'll need to save for either this phone, or a new £250+ graphics card.

First I wanted the graphics card, now I want this phone, but I wont be able to afford both

Two of the 9 interactive panels on the X1.

Apparently. A strange move, seeing that the automatic rotation works seemlessly on other devices. I don't think we misunderstood anything.

Looking at the videos, its interesting what they DON'T show. They all show the 9 panels, and they often click (touch) on the windows panel, but they don't show any of the other panels. I'm guessing that right now the other panels are just rendered images of what might be - the various apps that might run there. Seems this device is very much still a work in progress - I think they will definately need 6 months to get this to market. Its one thing showing the hardware working, but quite another to get the software stable (as all us P990 owners know :S)

I also find it odd how a lot of people say they are choosing the qualcomm snapdragon, when SE have just announced their own chip platform - it seems very odd. I can't see why they are doing it - maybe its just wishfull thinking on the part of qualcomm supporters? Do qualcomm actually have anyone using their chips?

After looking at a lot of info, the X1 seems like a fairly unfinished product The hardware may be pretty much finished, but the reluctance of SE to let anyone play with it indicates to me that its just pre-rendered screens on top of WM6, running on pretty standard hardware, even if it is in a sexy case. I hope the (possible) Pari5 is in a more finished state...

@ALL

IMHO X1 is a nice phone period. It is absolutely not at all what i would consider a high end device specially taking into account the time frame in which it will be deliver. Can someone tell me what break thru or cutting edge feature does this phone really have?

If you look at the specs there are already a few devices NOW in the market with similar or in some cases even better specs so imagine what would be on the market by the time this device hits the shelves. Please ppl let's not be blind.

I believe HTC played a major role in this phone (not just a subcontractor like some people mentioned earlier) if the phone had been
designed by SE it would definately have had FastPort and M2 support which are signatures don't you think?
please have a look at the specs of the at&t tilt or TyTNii from htc and you will better understand my post.

the only credit to SE on this device is that by entering the WinMo arena they will hopefully increase their market share.

I really hope Paris makes up for this

How will the 65k colours affect the quality of graphics in Xperia? That's the only concern I have on this phone right now.

Overall, the design is great.

and third it's getting a bit too obvious that the software and probably the only thing that se made themselves isn't ready or/and completly buggy.

How can the system be buggy when it is not even up. It's just a front, only good enough for the announcement, that's why no one can touch it, since it is at least 9 months from completion. You are human alright, just not too bright, criticising what's not even there to begin with
