Well considering its a completely different platform to the K850i, and one thats spent a lot of time being fixed up by SE, I don't think you'll have that problem.

that's a HUGE relief

I'll relax when the phone is actually out and working without P990 style bugs

Though I am quietly confident.

am i right to think there are no major problems with its firmware?
I did not encounter a single problem (crash or anything) with the G700. Note that I'm not using it a lot, just for testing some CPS apps, but still it surely behaves very differently from an early P990 Mr. Green

The word you're looking for is "hopeful".

So.. then do we think they're going to invest in improving the phones now? I mean, if they do fix the annoying stuff from the earlier versions, when they're migrating the exact same system it to a new series now - then they would've demonstated they can do it for the other UIQ3.0 units as well.

And if they don't fix the problems.. I mean, then the g- series shouldn't be receiving endorsements from anyone not selling phones to.. "the average user who won't complain or be unhappy when something doesn't work", or something like that.

If they fix the problems on the g- series, but not on the rest of the phones - would they deserve praise for that..?

Or if they start finally SELLING in great volumes and making serious money with UIQ, then alocate more resources to the smartphones division, with UIQ technologies also growing and doing the same, they will finally be able to give users the support they expect???

Thats massive! I think is begining to implement UIQ into mid-low segment.
Im pretty sure soon we'll see nts(non touch screen) UIQ in the lineup

What about if they fixed the problems, then the phones would sell more?

I mean, one thing is that most people don't know what imap idle is, so they just don't care. But the fact of the matter is that you're not going to have to guess at the settings, or somehow divine the secrets of the software on essential functions, if you buy any other competing smartphone. I mean - the imap folders and the scheduler is mentioned in a sentence on the online manual only. And it's still not clear exactly how the functions work. And in my opinion - that's what's hurting the sales, together with the lack of support for the p1 now. Specially after the p990 fiasco, it's obvious that unless you're seriously committed, you won't "test" a smartphone like this.

Of course - I'm sure the g- series will change that, because it gives off the impression of being a phone. But I'd bet good money that if more people buy these units, and they have the same problems as the m600, the p1, the w960 and the p990 - on the functions and the settings - then that's going to scuttle the g- series completely. I mean - it's not just a phone. It's an expensive phone. And I sure would be furious if my $500 phone suddenly decided to struggle with connection- management in the way the panels do, or didn't have planner- functions for dealing with export and so on on the phone - or a useful volume- control or profiles. Or have an alarm triggered when it's turned off, and is a bit sluggish. I mean - what in the world would be the point for any "semi- advanced" user to buy a smartphone that looks like an ordinary phone (apart from the price- tag) - if none of these things are fixed?

So it's not like the series will automatically generate support. In fact, I'd bet good money that the series could turn the other way because more users mean more support- requests and returns - which SE won't be able to ignore, like they've done with us.

Donīt know...i am aware P1 still has issues, but i am a what can be considered a power user, someone that tries everything single app and tests every single feature, and canīt say i have real problems with it

So, if the g series are at the very least like that, and guys like Zed from CPS do tell us the test units they have are in that state now, months before release, i really canīt see why one should expect SE to have it backfiring because of support problems....

I think the P990 saga should have made them learn one thing or two...even if not make them do everything as we expect
