you need to then get a bigger case, or stronger case. But I agreewe need to be more careful with these iPhones than normal phones. Careful with choice of slip on cases as I've read cause scrathes and may lead to weakening thee iPhone body shell till it cracks. AT least they replace it under warranty no questions ask. It's not a superman phone but it's odd how some larger manufacturers charge ppl money to replace the body shell.

Im very careful with my phones... They tend to look as good as new... once I decide don't want them... Especially with the iPhone I have been even more carefull... Keeping it seperate... Strange thing is... I checked it in the morning it was fine but then got into work and had a call... which lasted a while (40mins) and then I looked at the phone and it had a crack above the camera lens area.

I have never used cases and don't feel a case would make a difference...

It seems to be a major issue as they had a lot of problems with the 3G version cracking too... Especially in the white... So may have to get a black 1 as a replacement (which I don't really want to do)

Cheers
ENJOY

GET a SCREEN PROTECTOR! Youll be glad you did

Just personal opinion, but I'd never use a screen protector on the iPhone, there really isn't any point. I've been using my 3G without one for a year now, and the screen's still good as new - because it's solid glass and simply doesn't scratch or spoil like a standard, resistive touchscreen. I religiously used a screen protector on all my previous smartphones because it was too easy to scratch their plastic-covered screens with the stylus otherwise - but on the iPhone there's no stylus, and no soft plastic layer on the screen to be scratched.

Sure, if you really worked at it you could scratch it with something hard enough - but then if it's hard and sharp enough to scratch glass, it's going to cut through your flimsy plastic screen protector to do that anyway. Keep those diamonds in another pocket and you'll be fine.

The only real danger to the iPhone's screen is impact, and the possibility of cracking the screen altogether - but again, no (usable) screen protector is going to prevent that.

The black cracks just as much its just a case you don't notice it until the cracks get severe

Well it seems like I'm gonna have to go for my 3rd 3GS... And see how I get on... If not will replace and sell... SIMPLE...

I can't be asked in running around to get the handset changed and then spend time getting it ready... Never had a phone that cracks, by normal use...

Its not good enough and they really need to sort this

Makes ya wish they had a metallic finish an the back shell or the same backing as the iPod Touch 2nd or 3rd edition devices. Then we'd be bothered only by cracks.
