I think the photos look better with contrast high black point and low white point. Is it available to get that as standard and the now-standard as an option?

Perhaps you're the only one that thinks so... I'd prefer to keep it this way and you can opt for high black and low white point.

Yes you can. Open camdriver.dat with text editor (e.g notepad), and go to customization area. You'll find those settings there.
Code:// contrast
// 00/normal, 01/high black point, 02/high black point + low white point
VAL_CONTR_DEFAULT= $s0 00;
VAL_CONTR_DOCUMENT= $s0 02;

You could change bold-underlined value with the one you've desired

I wonder if custom white balance has been discovered yet?

Sorry for late replies...

question how do you set the sharpness for the video mode?

You don't, video sharpness is hardcoded and not customizable.

and additional contrast settings to 4, i only see 3 settings in the customization

That's because only 3 values of contrast exists. Don't look at customization values in terms of values of manual contrast function. Manual function is 3 contrast values + reset (step 00) which sets value selected in customization zone.

So normal will still be there but as 4th option now, right?

"Normal" contrast is neutral, so in manual contrast function this will be step 01.

is B-setting possible?

Sorry, I don't understand. What do you mean?

I wonder if custom white balance has been discovered yet?

Nope, CWB doesn't exist in this camera. You can try something similar with white balance+ function:

1. Set auto WB (step 02)
2. Point at white/gray card
3. Wait
4. Lock WB (step 01)

I'm not sure about the result because auto WB have different color selection priority than custom WB.
