I just read later this year Nokia is merging the Smart Camera app and Pro Camera app into one which makes sense

If someone buys a phone for it's usability, features, performance, software and form factor being a thin profile, then surely they will mind if there is a hump. Some people are even complaining about bezel thickness. Like I said awhile ago, I see these two phones targeted at different users.

also we were not discussing camera alone awhile back, you changed the topic to camera alone, we were comparing 1020 and Z1 as an overall phone, it started from your quote from GSMArena in the conclusion page, where they discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each other as an overall smartphone, hence why it is in the conclusion part of the review.

By the way this isn't a thread for Sony bashing.

But I have seen some images of Sony Z1 it's the best image quality Sony have done for sometime. Some photos in Esato photos section by Xperia Junkie looking at them full size in detail you can see very crisp details in things like distant trees etc. Although I don't know if a software issue or lens issue the photos had blur in right corner. But so does most smartphone cameras suffer with corner softness even the 808 does.

Some blur here and there on the 808 but its a very small percentage of the frame, especially considering how wide the lens is.. nothing else comes close.

I think the 1020 might be suffering because the pixels are in fact smaller than the 808's and lens has to work harder to resolve... not sure tho.

Some of them are fine..

People can we please return to topic, this is the Lumia 1020 thread, not the 808 PureView-, nor the Sony Z1-topic, both phones have threads of their own.

All 3 are camera phones, it will be really hard to avoid talking about all of them in all related threads.

The 1020 and the 808 in particular...

I don't think, that she wanted people to avoid talking about other phones, but this thread is ridiculous, one could think to be in the wrong thread, as a lot of posts are only about other phones, i.e. 808 or Z1. Like the one above: six photos from the 808 and only one from the 1020, why post that in this thread and not in the 808's topic?

People, who are planning to buy a new smartphone are interested in more than only the camera, when only the cam is interesting, they'd better buy a real camera! But nobody here owns this phone, so nobody can talk any sense about its performance in daily use, resulting in a topic, which is completely useless to people seeking info.

In some other forums, mods delete off-topic posts (masseur did that too), this thread could really use some cleaning-up.

I don't get it why would someone compare the Z1 to the 1020 camera wise!

One has a Xenon flash, 2.6x lossless zoom, OIS, a higher class sensor, and the other is a standard cameraphone comparable to the standard bunch.
Video quality isn't even comparable.

Here is a studio test from GSMarena comparing the S4, Z1, and 1020: http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=1&idPhone1=5125&idCamera2=30007&idCamera3=30008

Somehow the S4 come much closer to the 1020 than the Z1 which look really poor in that comparison.
Although these studio tests for this category of cameras is useless imo.

From what I've seen so far, the 1020 is a no brainer for someone interested in modern smartphone coupled with a capable fully fledged compact camera..
