I exaggerated a bit

maybe. from what i've seen for samsung its far from 16gb, the software leaves 8gb free.

i don't think that sony will offer 2 version one 16 and another 32. they most likely just bump it to 32 or 64. the question is when.

Sony appear to be cheapskates when it comes to NAND.
Perhaps its the reason they manage to undercut the prices of certain flagships.
The iPhone has a 128GB option, so its not technologically impossible to have that, as well as micro-SD expansion. Its simply a case of whether or not they can take the hit to their bottom line.
Number one priority for them is generating sales and being profitable.

Since we're taking about high-end devices (>500EUR/600USD) 16GB ROM is more than just a insolence. If OEM's want me to pay a premium price than I want premium hardware, that simple. 64GB or go home!

If Sony provided 64GB+ roms in their flagship phones then wouldn't they be less likely to include expandable storage? With extra memory, less people would feel the need to expand.

The only issue is that you can't write to external memory with non native apps anymore with the latest version of Android.
