Vodacom has been down this whole afternoon folks...here's the story courtesy of SA Press Association. It seems to back up sporadically because I just got off the phone to a Vodacom subscriber.
Midrand - Vodacom on Friday afternoon said it was working "relentlessly" to try and find the problem that caused its network to be unavailable.
Vodacom subscribers could neither make nor receive calls on the network.
"Vodacom apologise to their subscribers who are currently experiencing difficulty making and receiving calls on the network," said Vodacom spokeswoman Dot Field.
She said she did not know when the network would be up and running again, but assured subscribers that the company was working on it as fast as possible.
People who tried to phone from their Vodacom phones got a "network busy" signal. Those phoning the network either got a busy tone or the message that "the number you have dialled does not exist". - Sapa

' Well, every so often I can take comfort in my decision to move and stick to MTN!
' Though admitably the (severe) sorta problem we saw friday with Voda is really an uncommon and notable event with our networks...

@786KBR: C'mon broer, gimme some of that stuff you're smoking because I haven't noticed these price drops you're talking about. The W800i is discontinued but the other day I saw an ad where they were selling the phone for R3200 including starterpack...that's the average price...the W900 goes for R3700 including starterpack...now the question is where wil the W810i be priced...and what about the K800i which should be out around Aug/Sep R4200/4500?

' Hmm... The blokes I know who were involved in the network mess yesterday said something about Cell-C flooding the (Vodacom) network with incompatible / non-conforming messages... The reason for this particular activity I am not aware of - but I can almost believe some putz and his mugga-coffee being a part!

Now THAT i'm inclined to believe, Cell Sheep seem to be capable of just about anything EXCEPT being really competitive where it counts.
Anybody watched the Pirates/Chiefs game? I usually couldn't give a fig for the game, but it was the only transmission i could receive with any clarity whilst driving thru the worst rain i've seen in some time in the rural bits of the East Cape yesterday. The commentator seemed terribly close to tears during extra time...

Taken with the SPV C550 in less-than-ideal conditions:
(warning: pics are a bit big...)
This is a free SA newspaper widely available at stations etc in London; which comes out once a week. Yes, this particular one's nearly a month old now, but nevertheless:
Ah, the Mohawk Spur (in central London) ad:
...and a SA gig ad:

How guys, it been a long time.
Hey talking about VODACom network. It is totally irritating me now. One friday night I was disconnected while talking to my girl friend and after that I got a "No Network Access" Message.
I was so angry, I regreted even having the contract with VODa.

The W800 is discontinued at Vodacom, certain stores will still have stock, should they run out of stock, they cant get more.
We all know that buying a phone at a dealer cash will always be higher than normal.
Vodaworld has it for R55 pm X 24 months!! that decent right??
Anyways the W850 was in the Davinci code, who watched it??

Was it because of all the bugs it have? Or they just had enough it was not making good sales?
I admit this fone is a one worse case scenario phone I've ever owned.
