I'm running windows xp 64bit and the software won't even install. So I've dug out my old vaio from the loft and am using that for all work related stuff. I've been told by SE customer support that they should have a 64bit version released in time for vista :S
The phone still rocks though.
I'm using the firmware that came with the phone (because I'm unable to update and I dodn't think there is one for vodafone p990i's) and after the problems with the first few days I've not had a single crash. Also I can have loads of progs running at the same time without a problem.
Yah, since I bought the phone, didn't experience any problems at all. Except that I can't install the PC Suit.
So, were you able to install it on your Vaio? I'm also thinking that it's my PC that has a problem that's why I'm planning on reformatting it and then intsall the PC Suit again.
Anyways, the P990 is great. I like the way it looks without the flip but its a bit hard to use the qwerty with one hand like the Treo.

Just found a solution to mine
Definately my router is the problem, i have just tried a Belkin ADSL router and it works a treat.
Mines Voda too mate, try another wifi connection.
Could be your router!
Just need to buy a Belkin one now
If you are having problems with your ADSL routers, try this there is a CHANNEL or STATION setting, it can be that your router is trying to use a channel that your neigbour is using, so changing channels might solve your problem . Well it solved mine at least

))))

Anyone here had a problem installing the PC Suit for P990? If yes, where you able to solve it and how?
Thanks in advance.
DARK
I couldn't get the PC Suit as suppplied to install fully. I downloaded the latest version from SE's website and all then went smoothly.
Good luck!

@ GUY H
Just start the Business Card Scanner . Put someone's business card on the table, once clearly focused take a picture of the businee card using the card scanner program. Then Click PROGRESS or PROCESS (can't remember now) and let the program do the work .

Nope... not yet at least. We can hope for a flash-player for UIQ3. Then it might work.

Any1 knows if its possible to use the flash as torch just like the w800. Maybe this has been asked and answered apologies and thanks in advance
there is no option to do this in the phone but you can trick it by opening the lens so the camera-app starts. Then make sure flash in on and press the shutter half way to make the ligth start. Then while holding the shutter half way down, use the weel to switch to movie-mode. Then you can release the shutter and you will have light for a few minutes.
I really hope there will be a more easy way to do this in a future firmware.

thanks but you are right, its a long way to turn the torch light. Such a pity a smart phone not as "smart" and easy as other SE "dumb" phones. I love the W800, W810, but the sms fonts are too tiny to be read (am old already shucks). Only the P990 can give me such a big font and i need a minimum autofocus 2 mega pix camera phone. Even today, I had so much problem to get the mms to work and so many clicks to send a simple mms. I am now very tempted to go for nokia sirocco edition, very very tempting. Sigh..... when will we stop changing phones?

@dark_knight_r3turns
Do not format your PC!
Its allmost 100% certain it's the SW at fault not you PC, I have spent most of the day on the phone to SE as Vodafone and cannot support the P990 at any kind of technical level yet and have had a very interesting time good job I am on annual leave!
1. SE told Voda not to release the phone as ther are too many known bugs and conflicts with Anti Virus SW and Firewalls.
2. The PC suite Voda are currently sending out with the P990 is faulty and is an outdated version that even SE dont really know where Voda got it from!. It has cused 10 blue screen crashes so far, I have had to uninstall my firewall and anti Virus SW (To zero effect other than to find a better product so I am pleased about that at least

) I have also had to check the registry for orphan entries, the lis of chaos goes on and on! (Ps SE told me to go to their corporate web page then go to support to get the latest PC Suite I did this but still wont work)
3. SE have told me that I need to do a Firmware Update right away but as even SE cant find a reason as to why my PC will not recognise my P990 I am still some way from achieving even this! I am now awaiting a call from their third line support desk, but I am advised they are "quite busy" at present
4. Apart from that lot I do not have much to report as I cant get the phone in any real condition for a proper evaluation until I can sync it, and I am a very long way from that at present.
One last thing, I know I upset a few members here when I mentioned early adopters were "Beta Testers" I meant no offence but was concerned that people were paying lots of money for a product that I felt would be problematic.
SE's tech team told me today "Sorry mate we are getting literaly 100's of calls a day now on this phone you are all really just "Beta testing" the phone for SE not my words his! So I am currently a Beta Tester too! but unless they can get their act together fairly quickly I wont be for long!!!
They have apparently had had business managers screaming at them as they have sold them for companys and are getting shouted at quite a bit, I felt quite sorry for them.
I am very disapointed in the phone so far
