If they can keep the size down by trimming more of the bezels then this will be to big for my tiny hands, Other wise I'll get the Z4 compact hopefully with a 4.8\" 1080p display and if by magic keep the dimentions the same.

Z4 Compact? Did I missed something? I thought the next compact update would hit the shelves at IFA 2015
I agree, but Z4 Compact?

I think he meant the next compact, if the current rumours are to be believed then the next compact will be Z4 as Z5 will be a 2016 devices
+ I really hope Z4 will come with USB 3.1 Type C...
I'm fine with OB design language as I still find it sleek and nice not to mention the uniqueness of it, Sony is evolving it very nicely with each device
Every company has it's own design language and they stick for years for the same design Like Apple & HTC so why not Sony ?
I know it has flaws and negative aspect but Sony is evolving the design and no design is 100% perfect

If the latest rumors are true about one main flag per year then sony announcements are most likely going to be:
mwc: z4, z4 tablet.
middle of the year event: z4 ultra or sony keeps ignoring the 6" display device market and the main flag takes the phablet roll since it will have 5.5" display. i hope they don't ignore it.
ifa: z4 compact, z4 tablet compact.

The Z4 is the only thing keeping me from buying a Nexus 6 right now. I like large-screened phones, and what I'd really like is about a 6.25" Z4 Ultra, but if the Z4 really does turn out to be 5.5," then that's big enough. Any chance it'll have an AMOLED display?

Well I consider myself a sensible person. Logically sony is going to introduce a 6 or +6 inch screened phablet at CES or MWC in 2015. Same internal configuration as Z4 but thinner since it has more surface area. I mean I work as an Assembly leader. I see none difficulties for Sony. It would step up their hype. I have this feeling that Sony is becoming the locomotive for Android. Samsung is done, people are tired because of their aggressive marketing strategy.

It seems unlikely; only supplier of QHD amoled right now is samsung I believe, and well as I posted in previous posts, no one is buying from Samsung, only samsung for now. Either the pricing is too high or companies don't want to channel funds into samsung via samsung display. I am not sure if AUOs AMOLED QHD will be available by MWC but it was a 5.7 inch screen and not 5.5. Unless said 5.7 in panel can be modified to 5.5, I don't think Sony will use AMOLED just yet. Worse, the 5.7 QHD from AUO is delayed due to yield problems.
As for JOLED, afaik, it is geared towards medium sized oled panels, so not smartphones. Not sure if there are any other OLED firms ready with a 5+ QHD oled screen for mobile, I could be wrong.

I would not expect CES, too early, I don't think the 810 will be ready by then to ship just yet, and introducing a device and having it ship 1-2 months later is a bad idea. Sony has to focus on the main flagship for now, no point in dumping money into the phablet market again and having it not work out, like what happened with ZU. Now with a significant price drop in various markets, the ZU is selling much better but probably not enough to warrant a new model just yet.
MWC should see the Z4 and Z4 tablet, if we see a phablet I will be surprised. One issue would be the name, would it be the Z4 ultra or Z2 ultra? Definitely could make things confusing for some customers.

I remember RU saying there is no development going on for a phablet, so I doubt you'll ever see Z2U or Z4U whatever you wanna call it. With 5.5" size for the flagship, there are 0 reasons to have a 6" phablet alongside it

I think this year's Nexus range has the sizes pretty spot on (for this year at least).
5-6-9
5 to pitch up to the 'that's way too big' mentality
6 for the tech lovers who can handle it
9 for a slightly better portability without a massive compromise in screen size
I applaud.
And I may just go out and buy a Z3 Dual LTE tomorrow seen as though Sony seem to have very little in the way of a 6 incher coming.

I still favor IPS over S/AMOLD specially with advances e and working in in Z2 & Z3, AMOLED tends to be over saturated and not natural, it makes me feel that i'm seesing a fantasy or a dream.
I hope Z4 will have IPS LCD...
If the latest rumors are correct, I hope Sony surprises us with the USB 3.1 Type C connector
