heres a quite stupid question. X1 is kinda new thingy, so does it have a "normal" standby screen? i mean besides the X pannels, like any normal phone.. just time, date and a wallpaper. does it? AND can you set wallpapers on it?
P.S. is the screen glass or plastic? plastic is kinda scratchable :/

T-MO in the usa version?
I don't know who to believe. But in the X1i rev iew Modaco mentioned that the USA X1a. will suport AT&T and T-mobile.
I'm with AT&T but i'm glad for the T-mobile community. If that is true Xperia can build a larger follow up in USA, which is great for everybody.

Anyone can confirm or know better? WhyBe? Gforce23?

no questions are stupid when you're learning something new, but in fact there's little that is new here as windows mobile has been around for a long time
X1 comes with a microsoft panel which emulates the standard WM interface and show the date, time, count of unread messages, number of active tasks, calendar entries for next few days etc.
yes, you can change wallpaper or indeed install a whole theme. On WM they are .TSK files which compares with .UTZ files on UIQ.
The screen is plastic but if you have concerns then use a screen protector. I personally have never used a screen protector but it really comes down to how you treat/carry your device

@JD
Thank you very much for sharing your experience with me, I really appreciate it. It was very helpful as I currently have P1 and am a bit tempted with X1. Now I have a clue what I can expect.

HI. Is it true that the xperia doesn't have an equalizer on the music player from the media panel? no mega bass? :S
Yep, that's true. But I wouldn't worry about it, as it does have a nice bass by default.
but as always, its well worth investing in CorePlayer for this and many other benefits...
Wow, thanks Mizzle and masseur for ur attention

I actually have the W890 and I'm gonna switch to this real soon, so I'm just wondering if its really worth it cos music is the top priority for me, hehe. Is the bass as nice as the MegaBass?

Um, do you think that a firmware update would provide us more features, say, the equalizer? hehehe

Hi all,
Well hopefully my X1 should arrive sometime within the next 7-17 hours and what i am most interested in is just how good Music and Video is on the X1.
I have today converted 4 TV shows to 800x480 in Mp4 as believe converting to the correct ratio always produces the best results. My Music is already in 256kbps AAC which the X1 is meant to support and how well it handles both of these will be of importance to me.
Sorry but i really am loath to have to shell out $30 to watch Video's or listen to Music as feel it should be totally unnecessary. Especially as my Bold handles both of the above perfectly even my E90 handled Video perfectly but was lacking as a Music Player which is why i didn't use it for Music.
I will be adding the Seven Free Beta E-Mail app so i will still have my Push E-Mail as it was on the E90 and comparable to the Bold. Especially as i really haven't liked any of the implementations of Windows Live and it doesn't push your Mail either.
Also as it comes with SPB Shell that IMO solves the need for some additional apps although i am looking at Handy Safe for WM and possibly a custom Alarm app dependent on how good and flexible the built in app is. I may also consider adding Resco Pro Keyboard if i decide i will prefer using the on screen keyboard to the slide out one. I may possibly look at Tom Tom later on but currently am finding Google Maps even though it doesn't have voice guidance is actually more than good enough for my needs and far less intrusive IMO so may just stick with it.
In regard to this i have a question is it possible to change orientation to Landscape without having to slide the Keyboard open?
@MWEB
I know what you mean as the Bold being my first Blackberry really has won me over at just how fast and stable it is. It may not be overly flash but it really is extremely fast and functional and unlike previous BB's is about much more than just Push E-Mail with Doc's to Go and great Music and Video playback it really is an excellent all round device IMO.
I will be comparing the X1 to both my current device the Bold and my recently sold E90 performance wise.
Marc

Yes, you can. From the system settings it's possible to rotate the screen, and if you want you can dedicate one of the two keys beneath the screen for this purpose.

This post didn't get much attention I believe. But since it's rather important to me, I'll post it again.

I have a question for everyone owning an X1.
Can you try to send mail with it. I think they need to be at least 10k in size. Preferably a little bigger.
That's actually the only thing that really bothers me at the moment. It's most likely a bug. But I'm not sure if it's only the phone that gives me trouble, or if it has anything to do with my mail-provider.
I have the mail account set up in exactly the same way on my PC, and it works perfectly well there.
The trouble I have on the X1 is that only a part of the mail is sent. I tried sending a 32 kB mail, but only 12 kB was received in the other end. It contained two attachments, which wasn't delivered, and half of the text was truncated.

Well, if you don't specify 3G, then yes the X1i and X1a will work on T-Mobile. BengalBoy has had T-Mobile all along and he says his X1i works fine (but he couldn't test 3G, of course). In the C&J version he just received, there is a frequency setting for the T-Mobile 3G frequency (I think around page 37 or so of his X1 review). I don't know if that band is functional or not, but it may be a sign of things to come in the X1a.
