FW upgrades should be for the odd bug, enhancements and increasing functionality. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find a ‘brought to you in association with ‘RentoKill’ splash screen the next time I connect to the SEUC. THERE ARE TOO MANY BUGS!!!!
It really pisses me off that I pay to be a SE Beta tester. Please feel free to send me a phone before release and I’ll tell you what’s wrong with it – in my own time and for free. (So kind of like now, but with constructive feed back and before you piss off all of your customers!)
This more or less summarizes my feelings. If any one of about a dozen people on this forum were the beta testers for this phone, I'm pretty sure we would have gotten a device that worked out of the box. But then, SE would have had to delay the launching of the P990 for at least 6 months. I believe on the long run this would have been a better strategy. A lot of people I talk to have heard about the problems with the P990 and are just to scared to go near it. Too bad really, as the P990 is a brilliant piece of hardware...

I finally updated my P990 to the new fw (CDA/65) yesterday. I am very, very pleased with it. It brought so much improvements. In combination with new smp version memory leak as the main problem is noticeably reduced, more RAM on start-up, multitasking is enhanced, phone itself is much faster, wifi also faster, opera much better due to better memory management, video player amazing-so fast in opening and time scrolling, plus better usb connection, speaker option etc.
I'll test it more off course but as I see it now SE (and our friend Lisa i.e. cell soft) did a very good job.
edit: multitasking test.. Smpro, advanced call man., magic message man. opened, mp3 playing, esato forum loaded in opera-some text copied, new word to go doc. created- paste text, email-sms inbox opened, contacts opened-specific one choosed, calendar opened, around 1mb RAM and everything is working. All this after 6hours usage not after fresh restart (restarted before 6hours due to MMS setting). After closing all app and memory reclaim using smp- around 14mb RAM

Just spent 25 mins on the phone with a retard at orange... Who was trying to direct me to there online help pages. I think over the course of the conversation he may have learned quite a bit about how Orange brand their phones etc... I however didn't get to find out when the Orange FW was coming out.
Spoke with SE and as predicted told me it's down to Orange, if they are even going to release a firmware version, to release it and SE don't know any time lines....
I wish I didn't like gadgets, my life would be so much more simple...

frozenwaffles... i hope before the month ends, we get our update.... i envy those you were able to update their p990 to the new firmware.
i just ordered a 4 gig memory stick pro duo... and it is coming tuesday. but i am starting to feel like i made a terroble choice of getting this phone. i should've gotten the w950, as the phone is a lot more stable.

As there were some rumors (from "good sources") about R9 coming out week 5, I guess CDA/8 also should be updateable by then (it's only week 3 now). I suffer with you guys, cause R9 has made my phone much more stable.
Let's all have a quiet minute for those who can't update yet. :-/

Anyone know of any service centres in Central London? Will see if I can get some answers for my Orange P990i.
