no, nothing so technical. just the end result enjoyment level I feel from watching the screen for 45 minutes at a time
as I make my own music videos from DVD's I have, I can choose the quality I want myself anyway, though that also depends on the device capabilities.
I use DVD Catalyst and for the iphone and for WM devices it has preset values which work very well for me
the video podcasts are almost always excellent. The only one I watch with lesser quality is the one that Steve Litchfield does for his phones show, but they're recorded on phones such as N93 so I wouldn't neccessarily expect them to be top quality that Cnet and others can produce

I've no experience of the X1, and have only had my Iphone for a few days, but certainly the multimedia experience on the Iphone is many, many leagues ahead of anything my old WM-powered Tytn II was capable of. The screen seems to be the perfect balance of size, ratio, colour and pixel density - and of course it's 100% glass capacative, so you're not peering through layers of plastic on a resistive touchscreen.
I'm not much of a gamer either but I do like a good flight sim, so I've installed X-Plane 9 on the Iphone and it's nothing short of amazing. Effortless 3D graphics, very immersive with the accelermotor used for the controls (the whole phone becomes your stick, tilt it forward to go into a dive, pulll back to pull back, etc). It's very hard to believe that anything based on WM can match it, to be honest, certainly nothing I've seen.

If Steve reads this, he will block the IP address you're coming from.

Hi all,
Well OK so i have no had my X1 for a few hours and here are my thoughts so far.
Build quality really is excellent great materials and tactile feel the other thing is the X1 is small no i mean really small it's about the same size as a Nokia N73. Now the screen although 3" wide is really not very high when in Landscape mode and that's how i am using it the majority of the time. If i am honest it feels and seems much smaller than the E90's and although slightly longer than the Bolds not as deep. But it really is bright crisp and clear although i always leave my screens on full settings and don't worry about the hit on battery.
The first thin i have tested is an Episode of Dexter and the Simpsons both converted to 800x480 MP4 and they look great with good sound via the headphones. I also transferred Dare by the Gorillaz to the memory an this also sound good although i find i need to listen at nearly full volume so it could be louder perhaps.
Now that it has performed so well in these two fields i will continue to load the additional software, sync it with Outlook and set up my WiFi but not till later as i need to sleep now.
But so far so good and i would have to say without a doubt so far this is easily the best SE smartphone i have used.
Marc

I'm glad someone else noticed the volume issue as playback really does seem quite a bit quieter than on my previous WM's

Hi Mobman
Voda branding really is just one panel and small VodaFone badge on the back of the handset but even that's Back and not red so looks good and not out of place.
@SE_Naz
As i said i wanted to see if it worked for my Music and Video before spending lots of time on it, but I've customised some shortcuts on the panels and as mentioned by others besides opening the panels which has a short delay as it updates from the static shortcut there really is no lag anywhere that i have seen yet.
Really have to sleep now though as med's and my walk have tired me out and I'm still recovering from major back surgery will explore and report more once i wake up.
Marc
