PTCL has started its DSL services in Lahore and Karachi. so any body want to try out? first three months are free u only have to pay monthly rent upload and download doesnot have any limit for the first three months.

iam using it for the past one month i had some problem in my land line so some really serios problem does occure, like no connection for complete 24 hours!!! but now after fixing my line i have a very good connection only few disconnections in ours and nothing else. speed is very good iam using a 512Kb connection and get an average speed of 55KB/sec.

so do try it but it is really importent that when u order and they come to install do ask them to check your line otherwise u will have a really bad service.
in india, bsnl started their dsl services similarly, giving out trial offers in the first instance...
.
btw, LOL after reading the views about which posts count and which not...

PTCL DSL has terrible customer support, which is vital for any Internet Service Provider. I'm happy with my Micronet Broadband.

Hi again!
i'm wondering here in the westest west of europe where the "news" considers anything non-us, non-european as "alien", "weird" or unimportant...so, I'm wondering: what exactly is going on with the mosque-siege that is reported on so wishy-washily in the west? Can any of you enlighten me?
Thanks!

Very simple. Some people wanted to impose Islam rather than implement it. They really took it too far, burning down CD shops, kidnapping people, threatening the govt if it doesnt impose Islamic Law and now they're feeling the wrath of an Army based govt.

sorry to butt in, but maggster's been reading my mind or so it seems... you follow the news here in Ireland (they should be aware and sensible with such subject after centuries of northern ireland "troubles"...but they are not )...well, you try to read /watch the news and they mix up taleban and al qaeda show some archive footage (probably not even islamabad) and I'm sitting here without a clue of what's happening! so:
how did it start? anyone, please?
thanks from "oneofthose"

Well i have been following the whole thing closely so i will be happy to "enlighten" u ppl here is a little summary:

The Mosque goes by the name of Lal Masjid meaning red mosque..two clerics of islam, maulana abdul aziz and maulana abdul rashid, are its custodians..they are extremists and rigid..and as QVGA said, they wanted to force islam upon ppl and make pakistan a state governed by the principles of islam..Pakistan already is..well kinda....so they began campaigns...first they attacked and threatened CD shop owners...then they attacked chinese massage parlours, labelling them brothels and kidnapping chinese workers...the govt thus positioned rangers and personnel around the mosque to limit their "militant" activities...this did not go down very well with the jerks inside and they threatened the govt of dire consequences, claiming they had 400 or so fully armed ppl who would fight till their deaths...the govt showed considerable restraint and trying negotiating,,,the govt proposed that all those ppl who would surrender and give up arms wuld be forgiven and granted amnesty
Following this, quite a few men and women surrendered..yes there were women too.,..with staffs as weapons LOl....well then there was a twist..one of the brothers, abdul aziz, was caught trying to escape amongst the women, clad in a Burqa, u know, a veil and all that stuff....it was learnt that the actual mastermind was a woman! wife of abdul aziz...mother of both bros was also inside and was quite sick,,govt repeatedly asked them to send the 85 year old lady out for treatment..but the greedy poopster abdul rashid kept her inside as protection, along with female sttudents and other ppl...there were rumours that there were actual militants from terrorist groups inside who were holidng everyone hostage but that is as yet un confirmed...Last night, negotiations reached a breakthrough when the govt promised abdul rashid safety of life and house arrest onyl if he surrendered..considered a breakthrough...but when i woke up in the mornign..the operation was underway! The govt had declared that they would kick butt at 1am..so now the fighting is going on...casualties on both sides...26 or 36 women and a coupla hapless civilians have been safely evacutaed.....I'll keep u posted on further updates!

Cheers..
