***************************
Page 6 in swedish manual:
Använda handskriftsfunktioner
• Klicka på en inmatningsikon längst ned på skärmen i ett
program, klicka på och klicka sedan på en metod.
• Om du vill ha hjälp med att skriva tecken med hjälp av
Blocktolk, Bokstavstolk eller Transkribering, klickar du på
frågetecknet bredvid skrivområdet.
AND on same page:
Skriva information
Om du vill skriva text och tecken kan du använda:
• tangentbordet
• tangentbordet på skärmen
•
handskriftsigenkänningsfunktioner som t.ex. Blocktolk,
Bokstavstolk eller Transkribering.
Använda tangentbordet
• Om du vill skriva gemena bokstäver trycker
Translation:
Using handwriting functions
- Click on the icon and select method of writing (short translation..)
- If you need help with ... Letter recogniser or Transcribing, click question mark.
And the second part goes on the same way.

Now that indicates to me that letter recognition and transcriber is supposed to be there somewhere !
And I'm fairly sure I've seen these functions described on some SE web page. Will look into it...

Is it possible to set menus to English in the Swedish version of X1?
no, windows mobile devices generally comes with only one language, to get another language you have to flash another firmware

Hey guys, as you know I have been awaiting for my SILVER X1 since Sunday from Carphone Warehouse on orange 45pm 18 month contract, it finally arrived this afternoon via citylink, got to say for those who doubt CPW, i thought their service was wonderful

.
I have an n96 as well which came two weeks ago and didnt really have much attention from family members, mainly due to the reason it looks like an ordinary phone. But once my X1 was unboxed my family has been over it like a swarm, they love the uniqueness of the phone, the slide out keyboard looks modern, the silver makes it look like an expensive watch whereas if i had the black one it would look ordinary and bland.
and for the software itself my oh my, compare the wi-fi to n96, my x1 browses internet faster than my computer does (not really but u get the drift), so fluid and sexy, whereas the n96 was slow and always lost connection. theres no lag at all between the panels only when switching from landscape to portrait. i did think that because the slide out is so small i thought it was a fake  lol but its really nice compared to htc touch pro cos its smaller, what else erm ill have to play with it more after my dads stopped with the google maps lol, oh and its so easy to browse the net just touch and scroll compared to n96, oh please lol
for all the early adopters, have you updated your x1 via the sony ericsson website or is there no need?
also those who love their x1 please feel free to babble on like me, again i will show pics of the silver x1 to show how sexy it is compared to black. but whatever colour we got ITS AN X1 for heavens sake lol

because its a windows mobile phone and thats standard for WM devices, especially from HTC
to use memory stick, SE (or HTC) would have had to develop windows mobile drivers

I've seen the light.
The Fish panel isn't (completely) useless!
Page 17 (in the swedish manual) states that the fishes have names and functions (but I guess you must be japanese or japanese inspired like my kids, 16 & 20) to see the use or remember how to read the information.
The fishes have names ! (and changes colour)
1 Demekin. Battery monitor fish
2 Ranchu. Unread msg fish
3 Wakin. Sound off fish
4 Ryukin. Missed call fish
Read The Fine Manual ?

You never sleep ?
By the way, if you want to move your garmin maps to a bigger memory card, there are tools to help you.
I have GXT running on my old mio 168 with the help of these tools.

@mattiL
Well, if you should mail the X1Support on this subject you will probably get an answer that it's an error in the manual. I have found that most things I have asked them is either Microsoft Windows Mobile's fault, or an error in the manual.
You can take a look in one of the folders that came with the phone. The one that describes the radio panel.
There should be two buttons on the radio panel, one for alarm settings and one for other settings (I assumed RDS settings).
I mailed the support about this and got the answer that it was unfortunately falsely described in that folder.
And I also found out that the only RDS function the radio supports is frequency switching.

Hi all,
This problem is really starting to bug me and I searching the web, I still can't find a solution. Basically it's an age old problem....
When I transfer my contacts from via bluetooth from my PC using Outlook Express 6, the "File As" order on the phone is "Lastname, Firstname". Whilst on the Outlook Express it's displayed as "Firstname, Lastname".
How on earth can you change the default on the X1 Windows Mobile to be "Firstname, Lastname"?
I've seen a solution for "full-blown" outlook (http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/raj/FileAs.html), but not sure if this fix would work on the Outloook Express version.
At the very least, is it possible to highlight all contacts and do a mass change on the "File As" field?
Many thanks in advance, all ideas/solutions welcome.
Chris
