Yeah, that roaming option is also available on my early 3G handset, the Nokia 7600.
The option was one of the 'hidden menus' on the phone when first bought and locked to the 3 network.
As soon as I had it flashed to get rid of the the '3' crap and had it unlocked, hey presto- the hidden menus/options were no longer hidden. .

Let us know how much longer the battery lasts on a single charge, on the N70, if/when set to GSM only...

A Nokia first? It seems two Italian film producers, Marcello Mencarini and Barbara Senghezzi have become the first the produce a full-length movie (New Love Meetings) using only an N90 to film all footage.

The SE K800i is now available for pre-order on O2's site, so actual stock should be readily available within the next week or two (if judging by O2's usual pre-order handset availability times, like with the W810i etc):

Brix on my unlocked N70 I can chose 3g + gsm or gsm only. You should have bought the mtn one because is unlocked althou you get it on contract :-) In my case at least, I found 3G to eat the batt 20% or so quicker. I've disable it :-) . Gsm + a nice and stable Edge is my choice. Anyone knows where can I buy a cheap 'Reduce Size Multi Media Card' RsMMC ? (2gig will be nice but I would settle for 1 too) And lastly - Google Earth has released the new hi-res maps for Sa ! Now who knows of a cheap bluetooth gps reciever for my cellphone ? @mario2002: I think we're talking of the same thing. Like I said I'd like the option to choose '3G only' not have the phone switch intermitedly between the 3G and GSM. Battery life is average, like a responsible citizen I charge it every night, it probably could last two days if I wasn't using 3G. This message was posted from a Nokia

I think one of the big reasons why 3G takes so much battery is coz the network is not yet stable and when the phone looses the 3G signal it has to do a network search. Since i swithed my phone to gsm only i get 2-3days from the v600i and that is with moderate usage... I still get about 6-9hours with using it continuesly as bluetooth modem on gprs, Which i dont think is too bad

The W700i has been available since this past Wednesday from Carphonewarehouse, priced at £169.95 (includes £10 airtime). That's about R2160 using this morning's exchange rate.
http://www.carphonewarehouse.[....]PAYGO&filter_partModel=SEW700I
That's only £20 cheaper than what the W800i costs with the same airtime 'deal'...although CPW's online store is currently out of stock of both the W800 and W550 at the moment.
Still, W800's have been sold for £120 (approx R1520) new,sim-free and sealed by some esato members.
Anyone settling for the auto-focusless W700i with 256MB card instead of the W800i with auto-focus and standard 512MB card either doesn't know this,or is dof enough not to care or must really have a thing for bling (ie. champagne-gold).
I expect the W700i price to drop far more quickly compared to most SE phones over the coming weeks and months...

@Gamer: No, the K800 does not come with HSDPA a feature which we're only likely to see introduced next year in most 3G phones, Samsung would probably be the first to release their phone in SA.

@da wanqsta: Damn, I almost forgot about the W700 amidst all the hype over the impending release of the K800 and the availability of the M600. I betcha people must've been queing for miles to get hold of this much-loved phone
