On google you may find few sites listing freeware you may be looking for. As for activating light it only comes on when you charging the phone or else if you recieve a missed call or a sms message.

Well guys & girls, just got my P990 for 400UKP and.... I must say I'm not overly impressed at the moment. It's growing on me though.

When I took it out the box I was suprised at the size and weight. I've read all the specs etc, but I couldn't believe how light and "plastic" it feels. It's almost like a toy. If I'd had this a year ago I'd be excited, now people either think I've got a blackberry or "some old brick" when they see me using it. Probably would have been bigger still with something like GPS built in!

Updated it straight away it with SEUS, unit label says made in France, and SEUS detects it as Worldwide Generic 1. Phone was in UK English the whole time and came with an English and a Spanish(?) manual.

Didn't bother with the CD at all, just downloaded the latest apps required from SE.

While the OS feels quite solid in some areas, others are quite "clunky." Previously I have been using a Mio A701, and while this was awkward having to swap the SD card for an SD WLAN card, the Windows Mobile 2005 OS has not let me down and has been easy to use.

Having previously had a P900 and P910, the OS will still take some getting used to. Some things seem to take an age to do compared to WM2005. I haven't found the UIQ3 to be too slow, though when it is it's down to the fact that the menus are animated and when you stylus tap an item the highlight scrolls smoothly from another option. Vital milliseconds which give the impression it is thinking too hard.

Had a couple of errors, browser shut once for no reason, and when answering a phone call had an "App CLosed" error with loads of tech info which I couldn't see as it went on hanging up. Didn't affect the phone call though?!!

Also when adding a person's birthday in Contacts, it jumps to the calendar, and once you select the date it adds it, closes and saved the contact and leaves you inside the Calendar app. I then had to exit this, and open contacts, find the contact and edit it to carry on adding details.

Predictive text is very good, and I am gonna have to leave flip on, as I find using the keypad and predictive text very fast for typing texts, one handed while walking, so I'm glad to have a hardware keypad back again.

I suppose I was always going to get this phone because of what it is, and my love of the P900/910. I think it has a long way to go, and I hope that there will be more support for it over the coming months with regards to software, themes etc. Being a more business like phone it will never have the community spirit such as the Nokia S60 which spawns forums and apps every 5 minutes, but while I persevere with it, I have a strange feeling that I will soon be upgrading on to something else much sooner than my P910 days.

For all P990 experienced users, I'm a newbie here, does your phone pause music playback and ring your assigned ringtone during an incoming call, as mine just beeps and vibrate without pausing music playback, i hate this feature, is there a way to change it, please!!!

Thanks in advance!

True, the LCD does not light off when the phone is switched off and charging. But, it does when on and charging.

hi, anyone tried editing their contacts adding labels to each of the phone numbers you have. like instead of using so many MOBILE (W) MOBILE (H) can anyone add a tag or label or change the mobile word to CELLPHONE or ANY other tags that you wish,??? or maybe after the field MOBILE (w) can you add any word before you put the number on it like MOBILE (W) office 17005550303 ???

has anyone figured out how to not use their stylus(or finger) to access the drop down menus on pages. I discovered this by playing around with it and noticed when you hit and hold the ALT key and press the CAPS key the drop down menu is displayed. if u hit it again and their is other drop down(like in your message folders) that will also work. then u could just use your arrow keys to scroll down and across. Hope this helps some people the ones of course that dont know. Maybe all have figured it out.
