no need to update your phone with the same fw over and over again..

just disconnect your phone before hitting 'Continue' and check what happens..

if it starts downloading from 1% there is a new fw available, if it skips the download process (showing up for a second or so), there isn't.

this, of course, only works if the flash files for R5A17 are still in the db folder of your pc..

Nearly had a heart attack with mine, I've got the SEUS updater running on Vista 32 bit, it connected and did all the good stuff then hung at installing new software 0%. then the phone had an error message, no organizer error. i rebooted my pc and started the updater again, it started updating then binned out at 98%, phone booted up but when checking the status the phone version was showing corrupt, so rebooted pc and tried again and it went through ok, whew! Thanks for all the hints and tips on here about getting it to work on Vista, I wish SE would read the thread lol.

BTW, my versions are as follows :-

Phone: CXC162037 R9F011
BlueTooth: CXC162058 R5A01
Organizer: CXC162036 R5A17
CDA: CDA162007/1 R5A13

does restart have something to do with installed programs?

If ajack has the R6 fw why not ask him if he also has the Symbian 9.3 and then we don't have to 'guess' anymore if or not...

I'd like to know as well. Anyone?

The only program I've ever installed is Tomtom and my phone often restarts "to improve performance" - sometimes it restarts, I open messaging and it restarts again.

well my friends...it seems R6 will bring symbian 9.3, not later!!!!!!

i was able to get a friend to translate part of this

http://forum.symbianos.pl/vie[....]tdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30

A quick overview:

R6 launch between may 21 and end of june
symbian 9.3
much better RAM management and RAM available
HDSPA (this is one symbian 9.3 advantages, remember)
video recording qvga at 30 fps (now its 15fps)
new java
...
