I wasn't speaking in a geographical sense, rather a political and cultural sense. Western Europeans tend to think of the former communist countries as being 'Eastern Europe', this obviously is not geographically correct as some of those nations are, in fact, more in what would, geographically, be titled central Europe.
Russia seems to be the exception as people don't often look upon Russia as European, even though a large part of it is officially within Europe.

@scotsboyuk,I think we should speak more ppl about the problem.
You should realize its 15 yrs after breakup of communist world system.I am not sure if its still reasonable to share Europe according your criteria.
BTW: Sorac is our "emigrant" who lives in UK.

@boto43
I think that perception will change, especially as the EU expands. For instance, Prague has become a very popular destination for British tourists, the perception of the city has changed.

Think Prague was very popular city for foreigners long ago,I mean in time of socializm.Anyway I dont object to you. I am just curious to know what other ppl from WEST and EAST think about sharing Europe to West and East.Does it have any sense nowdays?

I guess you're still geographically further east from the UK and the like, although by that definition Greece should be 'Eastern Europe' too.
I believe Prague is still a popular holiday destination for foreigners, in fact I thought it was more popular now that the Iron Curtain has fallen. A friend of mine's mum is going there for a break soon, and it does look like a nice place to visit. I've also seen on TV that there are quite a few people from the UK thinking of buying property in Bulgaria, and the popularity of many of these 'eastern' european countries as holiday destinations is increasing too.

As I said before, Europe can be devided up into certain areas based on cultural aspects e.g. Scandinavia, the British Isles, Eastern Europe, etc. What is interesting is that after decades of communism there is a vague perception in Western Europe to see the peoples of the former communist countrios as somehow less European. I do not agree with this and l believe the EU will change such perceptions.
It would be interesting to find out how perceptions of Western Europe have changed in the former Soviet Bloc.

Yesterday I heard an interesting thing.Turkey may join to EU.EU red tapes
have only one condition to meet from Turkey side.They will have to abolish a punishment for adultery from its penal code.
Really interesting but I will keep the punishment if it commits by woman and abolish only if it commits by man. Hm western democracy is a bit strange.

I think Turkey should not enter EU, coz it is Asia country, with very little part in Europe. By that rule, Israel, Yermenia, Georgia, Azerbeydzan should also enter EU, but that is insane.
