I know, but it is outdated (no open headset jack, specs of Xperia Z) and has only 8GB of internal memory and the options to move apps to SD are very limited, even with root (Link2SD needs extra partition and is buggy and can't move all, foldermount doesn't even recognize all apps...)
But why don't they do it anymore or would they in the future?
Waterproof + microSD + removable battery + current state of technology with around 4.7" display would be perfect!

To be honest, I wouldn't buy a waterproof phone with removable cover. I don't trust it enough for that. Not only, it allows you to have better designed phone, IMO, if you make it one piece.

I believe you would think differently about this when your Z1 battery is broken after 14 months and you have to back up everything, send it in for warranty repair, wait 14 days and then restore your backup instead of buying a new battery for a small price and change it within seconds.
The whole process of sending in is super annoying...
Besides, what shall I do in another 12-14 months if the battery is broken again and the warranty is over?
Also, there are waterproof and saltwater proof cameras for use in deep water with removable batteries. Would you trust them?

The same could be said for Apple and HTC as they both offer high end products without a removable battery, yet have no resistance to water or dust and with the iPhone having only a 12 month warranty repairs get costly in next to no time at all. I really don't see it being much of an issue, I've had my Z1 since September last year and not had a single hiccup plus the majority of failed batteries that I've come across in almost 10 years of working in the mobile retail industry is minimal, it's generally a component of the phone itself that fails rather than the battery.

I have my Z1 also since last September and didn't even charge it that often, about every 2 days, and the severe battery problems started in October. Then you are lucky with your phone.
It's a different story with HTC and Apple. You can change the battery yourself without worrying about waterproofing since these phones are not waterproof to begin with.
With Sony if you change the battery yourself within warranty because it is faster, then your warranty is void. If you change it yourself after the warranty in order to save costs, then you shouldn't trust that your phone is still waterproof since it wasn't done by professionals. You have to treat your waterproof phone as not waterproof anymore to be safe which defeats the whole purpose of owning a waterproof phone to begin with.
I've hardly ever heard of major defects with phones which you couldn't fix yourself. Broken displays are mostly own stupidity and broken cpu, RAM and mainboard are very rare.
Which leaves the battery as major cause of defects.
You can turn it as much as you want, but non removable batteries are only good for one party: the seller, which why I' wondering if there ever will be another waterproof Sony phone with removable battery.

Is this the Xperia Z4 LCD Touch Digitizer?

It looks like the panel from the Z2 but as the post makes out the front camera/proximity sensor are on the other side plus the notification light on the Z2 is inside the speaker rather than the top corner, also the cut out for the front camera is a tad larger (in comparison to the Sony logo), similar size to what is on the C3. Interesting to say the least and a good find.
EDIT - Looking at the images again I don't think the photo of both panels were taken at the same time so judging scale is that little bit more difficult so we could be looking at a larger screen but it is very hard to tell.

Assuming these are authentic, then perhaps the screen size will not grow as much? The bezels on the 2 panels look pretty identical, so either the screen is slightly bigger and it is hard to see here. It is hard to tell with these images, the slight differences in perspective will not help in sizing them up using photohshop.
I like that the speakers have moved up to the top and bottom again like in Z2 and the z3 tab compact. Would take a wild guess the design will not be radically different from what we have expected from Sony in the past 2 years.
I would have preferred the notification light to be in the speaker like the Z2 and Z1.

Hello guys, long time no post. Has this been discussed in this thread?
http://www.sonyalpharumors.co[....]irst-active-pixel-sensor-apcs/
Revolutionary sensor by Sony, a world first "active pixel sensor" or APCS.
I post it here because there's an interesting tidbit at the end of the post where the author writes that she thinks it might show first in an Xperia Z4 phone. I think it's just a guess from her, but it would be pretty groundbreaking for Sony if they are able to do it. It would be great to separate the Z4 from its competitors.
