OK, first serious question:

1) I know that some of you have stated that you connect to Wi-Fi using WPA protocol. At work and at home our ADSL modems use WPA-TKIP (AES Data Encryption). If I go about setting a profile for this connection, everything is fine, I can set WPA etc. However, on the Wi-Fi menu, only WEP is available as a choice, as a result I can't connect to WPA, but have no problems with WEP or no security connections. SE support here in Turkey has confirmed that they can't connect if they use WPA protocol. I have CDA162007/1 and the latest fw, however on the box it says Turkish/Russian (these two languages have nothing in common except geographical proximity). Has anyone encountered this problem? Since SE seems to be clueless any help would be appreciated.

And a second question
2) Using the latest PCSuite from the web and USB connection, I can sync and use the file manager without a problem. However, the networking wizard can't detect my phone. Again, SE support had no idea about a cure so I searched and installed the latest version of m-Router which didn' t solve the problem. Funny thing is, I set up the P990 modem using Win XP network connections->create new connection and it works. Any experiences with the Mobile Networking Wizard?

A little note for those that are having problems with SEUS, make sure the language and the localisation of your XP SP2 is set for English UK, otherwise SEUS doesn't work. This is independant of the language you use on your P990.

I may be misunderstanding your problem but if you know the WPA details why not just set it up as a new account on the WLAN menu? WPA encription is then selected under "Authentication".

I deleted everything and did just that. Still no connection. Is there a way to see the error log on P990, if there is one? The setting on the P990 is now the same as my notebook, but no success. My ADSL modem is Thomson SpeedTouch 580.

And exactly what message / response do you get? Please also confirm that the connection account is in a group.

OK, let me go step by step:
1) Using no security, I can connect to the ADSL modem and surf the internet on my P990. After verifying this step I delete the profile for this connection.
2) With the modem set to WPA-TKIP encryption, I scan for networks and see my modem. I then add a new account under the WLAN menu using the settings (WPA-PSK, infrastructure, AES and password) and save.
3) Add the created account to a group (I named it Wi-Fi) and make this the preferred account.
4) From the WLAN menu, when I hit the connect button for my network, it starts to connect "connecting", the connection icon appears briefly then disappears, then the message "unable to connect" appears.
5) I know the settings are correct because I use the same settings on my notebook.
6) SE support has tested these steps and confirm that they can't connect using WPA encryption. SEUS says I have the latest version fw on my phone.

Makbil:
I'm guessing you havent changed your USB setting to 'File Transfer'.
To do this,
FO: Menu > Control Panel > Connections > USB > Click on USB and change the settings to 'File Transfer' from Phone mode.
Again, if you have done this before, than sorry no clue.

No, the USB setting is "Phone mode". In "File Transfer mode", PCSuite does not detect the phone.

Couple questions from me:
The p990 has qvga video, is it the same as the w900i quality, or better? How is the overall quality. I remember the w900i being a little jumpy.....
SO, again, how is overall quality and compared to w900?

Also, does the p990 have a graphics chip like the w900i had the nvidia goforce?

cheers

@makbil: I'm a bit confused:

WEP and WPA are 2 alternatives. Does your P990's wi-fi allow the WPA option or not?

In any case, if you're just getting a brief connection you might try turning off power-saving in the Wi-fi acccout.

This had me confused too in the beginning. My P990 does have both the wpa and wep options if I setup a new account. I scan, select my network, P990 tells me I need to set up an account to access this connection, I do that using wpa etc. But when it tries to connect it fails. I have a feeling that physical layer of the connection actually is successful, however I have no idea why wpa does not work. Same settings as my notebook and power saving is off.
